For the most part, yes.
I've met some really great people here & as soon as I joined, people were welcoming me on my wall. I don't think it takes more than a week or so to start to see who the exceptionally nice ones are. I agree with Chilipepper, I don't know of a nicer, more supportive online community, so that's saying something.

While some people are less openly welcoming than others, everyone's always very nice. Sure, sometimes people get grumpy, especially about controversial topics, but it's still more welcoming than most real-life social situations!

This has been an amazing place thus far. I've run away from other forums due to sheer stupidity, trolls, and 'drama'. (Anime convention forums, they're full of freakin' drama.)
