Has anyone here looked up Bettie Page, since EF started their promotion?

I actually did a quick google to find out when she passed away, and wound up reading the wiki page on her.
I knew a fair bit about her actually, I watched a whole movie (sort of like one of those movies that attempts to recreate the life of a celebrity with semi-relative accuracy, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a documentary or anything. Pretty sure it was the "The Notorious Bettie Page" one.) about her.
She was an absolute stunner. Classic beauty like that is pretty much timeless. <3

But reading that page did allow me to learn a few new things...it mentions she reportedly (so essentially, it could be a bunch of hogwash) suffered from paranoid schizophrenia at one point.
That's certainly something I'd never heard before, though it's not exactly the most cheery possible fact to learn.

I saw a "True Hollywood Story" of her years ago on E!, I think it was. They said she became religious and a recluse and though they found her, she refused to be identified then and they did not expose her and where she was living. I think the businesses have just been waiting for her to die so they could cash in and I hope she has an estate that controls things, though I don't know about any of that.

(Speaking of estates controlling things, I remember hearing of a commercial hemorrhoid product wanted to use Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire for a commercial which is hilarious! But his estate refused to allow them, lol!)

Eh, seems they do that with a lot of celebrities...just look at all the posthumous Micheal Jackson stuff going on like that hologram version of him and such.
I wouldn't blame her for wanting to just get the fuck out of the glaring spotlight of media attention and live in peace, it can't be easy having to live your life a certain way just because every little thing you do winds up on a tabloid cover or something.

Too much pressure to be "perfect" so you don't disappoint all your fans by giving them a firm reminder of the fact that you're still human and make mistakes, y'know?

(...that song is perfect for a commercial like that. xD
But it's probably for the best that the estate turned it down. I can only imagine how many people would have complained about it "making a mockery" of the song or something. Some people take life way too seriously.)

I actually have read several books about her and have a few posters.

She had a rough childhood due to abuse and later several bad marriages. Then men she married had a horrible time dealing with how popular she was and dealing with other men being obsessed with her.

There are a lot of things about her that most people don't want to know. She actually was ashamed of the modeling pictures that she took for about half of her life. She hated the fact that the very few nudes that she took got out so people could see them.

Later on in her life she was ok with them (I woulden't say that she ever liked them) in her mid to later years but they ended up haunted her. She refused to be seen in public because she didn't to spoil the way people thought of her.

It is very difficult to find a picture of her as she got older. She wanted to become a missionary and later on in life was a born again christian. I believe she also was involved with Billy Grahm's ministry for a while.

She was also known for mental illness, attempted murder and being committed several times to institutions. She literally stabbed two people almost to death. She later was diagnosed to be paranoid schizophrenic possibly brought on by her failed marriages and troubled childhood.

She was a true beauty but very troubled. I think from what I read she was actually upset with the image her pictures portrayed her to be. It is very sad. But I have always had a thing for women who looked like her. The queen of the pin ups.

I read this article recently about Bettie Page & the commercial branding of the dead, so it's like a Deja-vu to see her being mentioned here now on EF:
Bettie Page with the Ku Klux Klan, Celebrity Branding & Surface-deep Selling of the Dead

(interesting nonetheless)
