Here's a link to an article & video about it. Rep. Tammy Duckworth really nails an IRS contractor who may or may not have gotten improper "help" to win contracts. It's well worth the 8 minutes of the video, especially the end!

I read part of her remarks the other day, but hearing her gives a whole new meaning to the old phrase about not knowing your throat's been cut till you see the blood flowing. And she did nearly all of it with a smile.

Her opponent in the last election said of her, in so many words, "So she got injured in war. What's she done lately that she thinks she should be elected?" She wiped the floor with him, too.

Bravo!!! Damn, remind me to never piss her off. I think that was a great use of the time she had and I think she nailed her points perfectly and while she did bring emotion into it (which women are forever accused of not being able to resist when arguing) in this particular situation it was more than the right way to go. These guys are dying for the safety of assholes like Mr. Castillo.

This is the biggest problem with our society: money. Everyone wants it, no one wants to share it and very few people are putting it to good use. It just sickens me how far we've gotten off track and what we now consider to be of value and importance in our day-to-day lives.

I often wonder what people would do and how much loss of life there would be if technological developments and the ability to buy your meals prepared and cooked for you suddenly disappeared. How many people could truly survive without the things greed built?

I am so happy someone finally read this post! Can you imagine how infuriated she was to have to make nice to this scum as she sat there really suffering from her injuries? He never saw her coming, either, that prick was so sure he could talk his way out of it, too. You know why, because he had already gotten that far in life as a total sham, a person full of self-entitlement & no work ethic. Why should he have to work for something when he can cheat & be rewarded for it, right?

That certainly seems to be what many people think & how they act and it's glorified all over our culture. I will add to what you say about money: few are willing to work for it! Work ethic? Pffft, so outdated. I want what I want & baby needs it right now, or I'm gonna pout & throw a tantrum cos it always worked on the parents & if that doesn't work, then lie and cheat. Run up bills & default, then start over, move around, play hide & seek with creditors, steal identities because, well, why shouldn't I have what I want, I am wonderful, I deserve it! Everyone else is a sucker, but not me, I am gaming the system. Everyone does it, it's only the big companies, the govt, some rich chump that has to really pay. We have an awful lot of people walking around with the "I'm OK, You're Not OK" mentality and look what's happened.

I was raised differently... I am different and I believe there are good people out there, it's just depressing to see so many examples of the other...

I completely agree. You shouldn't get something for nothing in life. That's just not the way things work and it should never be that way. Where's the value there?
