I was made to take swimming lessons when I was a kid and I absolutely hated it at the time.

No lessons and I only sort of know how to swim. I never learned how to keep water from going up my nose, so if I don't have a a dive mask or nose clip on, I've got to keep my face out of the water. I can do laps but I've got to swim relatively fast and without proper economy of motion and so I get tired out relatively quickly. Many years ago I was swimming in a strip mine lake with my brother and a few friends, we swam across and were coming back, it was several hundred meters. I ran completely out of steam and was going down. If my brother hadn't saw and caught me, I'd have drowned for sure.

I took swimming lessons when I was little and then recently through my college to master the intense strokes. I love swimming!

We had to take them every year in elemetary school. I had a bad experience and can't stand water on my face so I don't swim though.

I knew how to swim without lessons but my mom signed me up for lessons later to learn how to do breast-stroke and butterfly strokes etc.

I took swim lessons when I was 5 or 6 and then again every summer from the time I was 8 till I was 12 at a summer camp I attended. The first swim lesson was a total bust and by the time I was taking lessons again I already knew how to swim I just needed to refine my strokes.

Yes I learned how to swim when I was young. I still enjoy it and find that it is a good life skill to know. I think it is adorable seeing children taking swim lessons, they have such a fun time!
