Are you heterosexual and have same-sex gay friends?

Do you have gay friends that are your same gender?

ex: straight female/male -- gay female/male?

I have met people who will not befriend somebody solely based on theyre gender, not the fact that they are gay. I have seen many females will befriend gay men but will not speak to a gay women. Dont get me started on men. I am using the term "gay" vaguely, This includes all GLBT.

I meant to also include male friends in my vote, guess the mouse missed the box. Anyway, One of the most amazing friends I ever had is a lesbian. She is an amazing person and a great friend. My mom got a little bothered by it when I mentioned my friend was gay, she though that made me gay, which is ridicuous.

My mom has had gay male friends in the past but once I had a gay female friend she got a little crazy. I dont understand how she can place judgement like that.

I also have some amazing male gay friends. They are just the life of the party and so much fun to be around but I never got close to them like I did with her.

I also know lots of straight guys who are not judgemental at all, but there are soooo many who are. Its just stupid, we are supposed to be different.

I'm a gay man, and admittedly most of my friends are girls or gay men. I haven't ever experienced any real rejection or prejudice from straight men, either though.

It's happenstance that I don't have any gay friends of either sex. We're pretty reclusive by nature and tend to keep to ourselves. I do have, excuse me did have, one friend I thought was a closeted lesbian and I have been involved in a same-sex relationship. When we were a little more active in the bar scene most of our friends were straight but that was due to the area.

Actually, some of my favorite couples to hang out with are same-sex.

Both types, no problem. We all have desires and loneliness and needs and hurts and loves ... it's not hard at all to connect and understand the fundamentals of being a human who needs love and affection.

I have both male and female gay friends. But I do get judged at times for being friends with the girls.

At the current moment, my only gay friends are guys, but that's just how it worked out. One of my good friends we think might be a lesbian, but nobody's pushed anything because frankly, it's not really any of our business one way or the other. I wouldn't have a problem with having lesbian friends, I just seem to hang out with more gay men than women.

If I like someone as a person, I don't care if they're male/female or gay/straight. If you get along and have things in common, be friends. It's hard enough to find good friends in this world without all the discrimination.

I live in Seattle and I like to think we are very accepting of gay people. I went to high school with people who are gay and they are awesome! Judging someone based on their sexual preference is stupid. Would you not be friends with someone who is overweight just cuz you are thin? People need to focus on getting to know the PERSON and not care who they would wanna kiss...

I don't have any gay friends, but it is because I am highly introverted and simply don't have a large circle of friends. My older brother is gay and I had no problem with it, I just wish he hadn't moved 1500 miles away.

Exactly! I'm gonna be moving to seattle in a year or so. Good to hear its a gay-friendly place. (not that I expected any differently. It's kinda why I want to move there)

Nice answer

I have at least some bi friends, but where I live not a lot of people come out, so I might not know. In any case,it's not really important to me.

I am a female and I have a lot of lesbian friends. I honestly think that I might possibly avoid gay men, rather than same sex. I don't do it on purpose. I respect everyone. I think it is more of what I grew up around. Half of my family is lesbian - no joke! I do have two gay male friends. One is apparently switching over to the bisexual side or something because he's "talking" to a girl right now.

Basically, I don't judge. I wouldn't like to be judged, so why the hell would I do it?

They aren't "just gay now" as if they weren't before; they're just choosing to express and make publicly known their sexual preference.

Sorry, I don't mean that offensively. I realize that some people do make "decisions" to live a certain lifestyle, even sometimes choose their sexual preference; but others don't. It's just who they are.
