How do you feel about bottled water?

I personally hate buying into it, but it's definitely better than tap water a lot of times. I really want to invest in a filter or something.
What about you?

My only option is to drink bottled water. There is no way around this pure simple fact.

If I want to drink water, it must come from a bottle or otherwise who knows what mutations I might develop!!!!

I wish it weren't the case though, such a shame with pollution and all that. I do miss turning on the tap, and drinking.

I don't drink bottled water. There have been numerous studies showing that tap water is just as clean if not cleaner than bottled water in developed countries. So it is a waste of money and is bad for environment.

I hate buying it, but when I have guests, they don't want a glass of tapwater!

I only drink bottled water. Our "tap water" comes from a well in our front yard and is brought into the house via electric pump. Last week, yet again, our water tested positive for coliform bacteria. It's very dangerous and can make you really sick.

It's about the 10th time since we've been living here that our well has been contaminated (that we know of) and my kids and I got sick when we first moved in when we drank the water, not realizing how dangerous a LOT of well water is.

We're even using bottled water to brush our teeth and boiling water for the dogs. Our Health Department has advised us to do so. They have also said, "Don't trust any filtration system with this bacteria." The thing is even good filtration systems filter no more than 99% of bacteria and cysts. Even 1% of coliform bacteria can make people sick.

We've chlorinated our well twice in the last two weeks and we're waiting on an other water sample to be tested.

You couldn't pay me to drink the water here. In our case bottled water is much safer.

The tap water here is safe - so we don't buy bottled water.

I hate the idea of bottled water! It's not always as safe and good as they say plus u have all the plastic bottles that most people throw in a landfill site!
Does anyone realize as well that your plastic bottle is a fuel byproduct, in about another 50-70 years time your bottle water ya will not be able to afford it due to lack of fuel.

I also hate the idea of bottled water. It's such a waste if you have perfectly clean tap water that flows freely from your kitchen sink. Reusable water bottles are under $20, even for nice glass or metal ones. I've had a BPA free Nalgene bottle for the past 4 years and it works just fine for me. My parents tap water isn't as clean as my old tap water back in Eastern WA so I bought a water cooler and 5 gallon jugs of water. It's not ideal but at least I'm not going through 8-10 plastic bottles a day.

For me it's not a matter of quality or taste, when it comes to bottled water. I reject plastic bottles because of it's mammoth wasteful carbon footprint.

We use a filter. Seems to do okay.

We use a filter for our household water, and have reusable steel bottles which we fill at home and take with us.

This page outlines several of the reasons we filter instead of buying disposable bottles: link

If we had water that couldn't be made safe by filtration, I'm sure we'd use bottled water. If it was a long-term situation, we'd probably look into a service that provides water cooler bottles, and then picks them up for reuse after they're empty.

I use a filter; our tap water tastes like chlorine. I will buy bottled water if I'm out though.

I really dislike bottled water because of the terrible environmental impact -- if I'm really concerned about carrying water or water quality, I'll use a brita filter and take it in a metal bottle.

Where I live the city water/tap is great, so that's what I typically drink. I frequently use reusable water bottles. But I do buy bottled water every now and then. My kids get assigned bringing a case of bottled water to school or sport events. I wish we used reusable more often but it isnt always practical. If I lived somewhere else I might do things differently.

I buy a case of bottled water. My mom gave us a filter for the sink but my son did not listen and broke it. I will get another one some time soon.

I drink bottled water because we have hard water. i've been thinking about getting that filter that you don't ever have to change.

I'm sorry!!! I would send you my yummy fresh spring water if I could!! It is so pure, we have to add salt to make it boil. No joke! The well water is right from the mountain springs, it was drilled nice and deep. Everyone we know brings a few jugs for our water when they visit us....silly, but true.

It's a rip-off and environmentally awful but my tap water is full of particles and makes my house plant wilt. If it hurts my plant, what might it do to me?

I really hate buying bottled water & don't do it, due to environmental reasons. I have a filter on my faucet, so I use it & just put it in a reusable bottle to carry around with me.

If I needed to use bottled water, I would. I have city water that is more or less "safe". I run it through a Brita filter and then drink it. Sometimes in the summer, or when it hasn't rained much our water really gets a funky smell to it - sometimes even a funky taste. When that happens, I'll sometimes switch to bottled until it settles down. But usually I just fill up my stainless steel water bottle right from the Brita filter.

I think bottled water is kind of silly in theory, but if you live in an area with rusty water and want to get around the nasty flavor, then it's great (I speak from experience).

Just get a water filter (brita / pur / whatever) they are exactly the same thing.

I have a Brita and can't tell the difference between water ran through the Brita filter and bottled water.

I love bottled water. I also grew up drinking only bottled water, so that is the taste I like. Where I live currently, we have super hard, super fluoridated water. It's disgusting. Whilst I -can- drink water from a glass, I much prefer water in a bottle. I just like to drink it that way. I've looked into reusable water bottles, but it seems you can't put them in the freezer and that's how I like my water. The fridge gets it cold, but not cold enough for my tastes.
