I put butter on the pan.. tastes wayyy better & more crispy.

I put the butter in the pan, mostly because I don't feel like waiting for butter to soften enough to spread on the bread.

on the pan, you use less butter and like BD it tastes better and more crispy. My sister likes it soggy so she puts it on the bread.

I've always put it on the bread. I never thought to put it in the pan, I'll have to try it that way sometime.

Ok, I butter the bread and then use a pan to cook it like a lot of other people do, but Alan has a real crazy way of making them. He sticks the bread in the toaster, watches for it to pop up, then as fast as he can slaps on the butter and mashes the cheese between so it melts as the toast cools.

I butter the pan myself. And then usually another little bit of butter when I flip the sandwich.

I use non-stick olive oil spray in the pan, I don't cook with butter if I can help it.
