I live about 5 minutes from the mall here in Chattanooga and I often dread going because of traffic. I like to go when Bath & Body works has a sale though or when they have coupons, other than that I try to avoid it as much as I can.
How often do you visit a mall?

My kids like going because there is so much to do besides the shopping. So maybe once a week or so.

I used to spend far too much time at the mall, going nearly every week. Now, I go maybe once a month (or less).

Only when I have to. Our mall has just went down hill with the economy. So many stores closing down. I go there when I go to the movies or need to get some clothes. It's so packed with teenagers in the summer and weekends so I just try to avoid it.

What do people consider a "mall" these days? There seem to be the traditional all indoors enclosed walkways malls, the "strip mall" with just a bunch small stored abutting each other, and these new "town center" complexes which are just a bunch of strip malls and big box stores clustered into one location (but you still have to drive around it).
The closest traditional mall to where I live is an hour and twenty minutes away, the closest strip mall is thirty minutes away and I have no idea where the closest town center is (maybe three hours . . .)
Regardless I only go when I need/want something from a store in the complex or want to do some hands on research of products. If I don't need to do the research I tend to try and buy it online for cheaper.

The mall is a dark and terrible place for me, it has hordes of wild teenagers roaming it and the teens around here aren't exactly nice.

I hate malls. I rarely go into one, usually only to drop in on people I know who work there. It's been two months since I was last in one though. I do all of my clothing shopping online because stores rarely have my sizes in stock... and I rarely actually like the clothes sold in stores near me. So I search what I want online.
Malls are a thing that need some re-thinking. Food and shopping is good and all... but at the mall near me that's the only thing to do. They removed the arcade, and adding in other attractions, I think, would draw in customers.

I love going to the mall. I love browsing and shopping and grabbing a pretzel in the food court, but my wallet can't handle it, and I have very little self control, so I try to avoid it for that reason.
