I just found out...

I'm expecting!

Not gonna lie, when the ER doctor told me that it wasn't my gallbladder that was making me sick, it was hyperemesia from being pregnant, I fell off the hospital table. But now that it's sank in, I am ecstatic!

It couldn't have come at a worse time, but as long as I have a healthy baby, I'll be happy. And since I became pregnant after being on 2 types of BC (at the doctors advice) and using condoms, I figure someone, somewhere REALLY wanted this to happen now. =)

I know it's random, but I had to share this awesome time in my life with all my EF family!

Congrats!!! Good Luck with the pregnancy and the sickness factor. I was so ill with my last two, I really don't want to go through pregnancy again LOL. However, hubby wants one more to try for his boy, so we're going to as soon as our 8 month old is outta diapers! God help me, my uterus can't take 5 kids, but we're going to go for it! lol.

Congrats again Ps..I totally get what you mean about the lingerie, thats gonna be a bummer! But just think of it this way, you'll have all sorts of sexy stuff to wear after baby!

Congratulations. Ginger is very settling to the stomach and they make a tea from tradional medicinals called pregnancy tea that I drank with both my pregnancies and I NEVER got sick. I think it was because of the tea.

Congratulations! Babies don't always come when we expect them, but as long as it's wanted, I'm very happy for you.

I had hyperemisis with my pregnancies and luckily by the last one doctors were no longer afraid to treat something as serious as hyperemisis and I was given Zofran, which really really helped. It's safe during pregnancy, and it gave me a great deal of relief. I already had two kids when I got pregnant with our third term baby (I lost two) and was glad to have the relief from the nausea, as I was not only working, but driving kids around all the time.

If the hyperemisis continues, talk to your doctor about Zofran. I never got relief from anything other than Compazine (an older drug) or Zofran. None of the "natural" remedies did a damn thing for me. But, everyone is different.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I found that by 14 weeks the nausea was calmed enough to go without any meds (unless I had a migraine, then all bets were off.)

Take care of yourself. One food my grandmother used to make for all the pregnant women in our family for the nausea was pastina, cooked with egg (buy eggs that have been pasteurized since you are pregnant) butter and Parmesan cheese, if you like it. I ate this every day of every one of my pregnancies, albeit without the cheese for me. Cook the pastina until soft, drain, but leave a little bit of water, put the pastina back into the pan. Scramble the egg in a small bowl, add butter to the pastina and turn the heat back on under the pain, add the pasteurized egg and salt and keep stirring and stirring until the egg is cooked. Add the Parmesan if you like. Eat it slowly.

Salt on your food also helps with nausea as well as dizziness and helps prevent breast infections once the baby is born. (Salt does NOT cause pre-eclampsia, this has been proven. Poor diet contributes to pre-eclampsia, which is why it's so important to get the nausea treated. You have to EAT! No vitamin in the world does what food does, and I always found the prenatals made me sick as hell, so I never took them.

Get a lot of water, eat your veggies and read lots of Dr Sears books, and you'll be well.

Thank you all so much for the congratulations and well wishes!

@Unfulfilled, I'll look for some of that!

@P'Gell, that's good information! I lost one in 2010 (didn't know I was pregnant until the miscarriage) but am happy I get to try again. I was prescribed Zofran but have to wait for my medi-cal to kick in before I can get it.. Hopefully it's soon!

@Stormy, I have never heard of that website, but will definitely look into it!

And maternity lingerie would be AWESOME!

I took 1/2 Unisom and (I think) a B6 before bed each night to help with nausea w/baby #2. I had such terrible morning sickness with #1. I couldn't travel, could barely work. I could not have that again and care for my daughter. And the Unisom/B6 combo worked wonders. Ask you doctor before you do anything!

Best of luck and congrats!

Thanks! I go into the OBGYN on Monday so I'll ask her then =)

My sickness usually comes on BAD at night right before I go to bed so I constantly get up and run to the restroom. I have a system now so I don't get sick on my hair or miss the bowl lol.
