If someone has a birthday cake at work, and you don't like the flavor, do you still partake?

I don't want to waste my calories on anything that is not worth eating to me. A coworker had a birthday, and one other coworker brought an expensive and fancy cake....but it was a White cake. Had it been chocolate, I would have taken a slice. As it was, I simply was not interested in using up my calories for the day on that cake.

Another coworker thought I was "rude" for not partaking in the cake (even though I was there, enjoying the "birthday girls" company.

SO..what would you do? Eat some cake you don't want, say "no thanks and not eat any, like me", and/or tell the busy body co-worker to mind her own business and calories???

No, I don't. I wouldn't expect anyone to eat something that they may not like for my benefit.

It always amazes me how people use food as a social weapon.

I agree, I don't want to waste calories on something I don't even like! I'm not on a diet, but I fill up quickly, so I need it to count. Not to say I don't eat junk It's no more rude for you not to eat it, than it is for a diabetic not to! As long as you say "Happy B-day!", who the heck cares. I'd be glad of having more to eat myself if no one wanted any!

To get the busy body off your back, and keep the peace, you could always say, you have strict orders to watch your sugar intake - medical stuff is hard for people to argue with! Why just saying you're on a diet never works, I don't know, but people always want to tempt a dieter to stray. Oh, allergies are good to bring up as well. Too bad you can't tell her you're allergic to her attitude!!

I wouldn't, sorry but I'm not going to eat something I know I don't like. I've offended people before but not on purpose, I'm just really picky. I don't care much for chocolate cake and rarely will eat it. Which is weird because I love chocolate....just not as cake.

No, in situations like that it's easiest for me to say "I am allergic to chocolate" Amazingly I've had people pressure me to eat something even after I have said I have an allergy to it!
