If you were to be on a reality TV show which one would you be on and why?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
Now this should be pretty funny! I realize a lot of the shows out there are crap, but someone is watching them, either for a laugh or a guilty pleasure. Instead of trashing them or asking your favorite, I thought I'd ask which one you'd like to be on, even if just for a cameo, or short run. Don't concern yourself with the practical,or the logistics, this is just a silly 'what if'.

If you were to be on a reality TV show which one would you be on and why?

I think I would never ever go on a reality show, for any reason. I am not a big fan of reality shows to begin with, but I would be too paranoid that I would end up on some crazy episode of Springer under a false pretense.

I don't care for reality TV, either, but I could see my wife and myself having fun and doing well at The Amazing Race. We both love to travel and are pretty good at it.

I would NOT, however, like to see our inevitable conflicts and squabbles played back!

I would like to hang out during the shooting of RuPaul's Drag Race! Now that would be fun! As long as they don't make fun of me, I would have a blast!

If I looked like a model (tall/thin) I'd definitely go on America's Next Top Model. I love the challenges and photo shoots.

I'd like to go on Toddlers & Tiaras and bitch slap a few hundred people! I'm joking about the physical violence, but I would verbally ream everyone I came in contact with about...well, I doubt you need me to explain the horror of doing that to little kids, do you? I saw part of one episode while at my mom's & of course, I see ads about it. But, I just can't watch it, even though my mom can watch it without having a melt down.

I would have liked to be on Temptation Island or The Mole, but since they no longer exist, I think I'd like to go on The Apprentice.

@ Jaimes, Ohh, Faceoff! I did theatrical makeup in college, but wow, the things you can do with special effects! Awesome answer, (because I find it endlessly fascinating)!

@ sunkissedJess & EVERYBODY, Go ahead and mention canceled shows, I didn't think that much about it, to consider that, but sounds like a good idea to me!

I love competition type shows, like Drag Race and Face Off. If there were a competition show for something I was really good at, I'd enter.

I'm so glad people are weighing in with reality TV that doesn't suck! Yeah! I loved chopped, but damn are they tough on those poor people, with those ingredient baskets! I haven't watched Top Chef in several years, but used to follow it all the time; it's interesting & so much better than the Housewives' franchise on the same network!

I second this notion.

I think a lot of you guys should be on Hoarders: Sex Toy Edition.

I wanna be one of the ugly girls on Rupaul's Drag U! I want Jujubee or Pandora Boxx to give me a makeover. It's like my life's dream! I just really want to be friends with a drag queen and have her teach me how to do makeup and be sexy.

I'd be on Bad Girl's Club too. That would be fun. I always wanted to be on The Real World when I was younger but now I watch that show and think everyone's an idiot. At least the Bad Girl's Club idiots are entertaining.
Pimp my Ride would also be good.

Thanks for adding some more excellent shows to this! Hoarder's Sex Toy Edition is so apropos with the Flash Your Stash event going on!

I completely forgot about Bad Girls Club! Oh my, I might be afraid to actually go on that one...

But, that's exactly what I mean about Drag Race! As long as they don't throw shade at me or anything, I would LOVE to hang out! They know more about all the tricks to "being a woman" than I do! I could maximize what I got! Even my old, fat, ass can be remade into a fabu drag queen! Look at Pork Chop or what was the name of the "chicken & a biscuit person"? Honestly, I am kind of a drag queen at heart, always have been & I just think we all would have so many of the same interests. Plus, some of them are such characters, I'd be laughing the whole time.

You know what would solve your problem about what clothes to buy? A shopping trip with the queens to outfit you! That could be a whole spin off show! I can see it now, the sharp tongued drag queen with a heart of gold, takes the unsure woman & shows her how to showcase her beauty! Woohoo, I think we would have a hit, I'm gonna contact LOGO & mention this! They could have a different queen do each episode, or have the woman choose who she most wants to mentor her!! I can almost guarantee that the outcomes would be better than a lot of the makeover shows where the person is embarrassed & unsure of whatever God-awful look they were crammed into. And just think of all the touching moments they love to show, where the two can trade stories of past humiliations, or whatever sad tales, then emerge triumphant in their confident look. Sunflower, we need to pitch this idea, pronto!

Ah! I had forgotten about a few of the ones yall have mentioned.

Top Shot - in a heartbeat. I love to target shoot.
Chopped - Hell yes! We did a version of chopped for my BFF's birthday, and it was AWESOME. I love getting creative in the kitchen with her.

@WickedWahine: I did it in college as well, and it was just awesome. I have zero drawing skills, but I'm not too horrible at sculpting, so I can design in my head, even if I can't translate it to paper. I want to get back into prosthetic work. I purchased an airbrush for Halloween last year, and that turned out to be tons of fun! I even risked it on ebay and got a complete kit for like 60 bucks. I swear it is like two steps from being Hello Kitty, but whatever, I enjoy it!

Holmes on Homes or Something like that...get my home repaired for free. I actually auditioned for HGTV once. I REALLY did not want to be on TV at all...I just wanted our house fixed up, so we could sell it. It was a difficult time/situation I was in too, so that made the audition even worse. We were given no coaching or time to prepare for the interview, so I had to wing it.

HAHA Porkchop.. Mystique with the 2 piece and a biscuit. I am SO jealous that half of these drag queens make hotter women than I do! No fair, I'm an actual woman! I'd try to dish it back if they threw shade at me. I love the ones with huge personalities! I want one for a friend.

I would LOVE for one of the queens to go shopping with me! I hate it when my friends are like 'oh yeah that looks good' when it actually looks like total shit. Like you're trying to make me feel better but I feel a lot worse when I go out looking like a hot mess.

LOGO already has this! Have you seen Drag U? It's a spinoff and basically the queens giving girls makeovers. They make some plain janes look amazing! I desperately wish I could go on it.

No wonder the idea came to me so easily, I watched Drag U, a ha ha!Talk about plagiarism! Sorry about that, the muscle relaxants are messing with my what's left of my mind! I cannot believe you remember Mysique's name! I'd try to dish ut right back at them, too, but nobody out does a drag queen when being mean! I admit, I come close Not to spoil my image as a petite flower, *snort*. I'll be your drag queen friend - it's inside me, just let me channel it for you some time. I know, you can take pictures in stuff & send them to me & I'll give you a real, honest, opinion on what you look good in - I'm not kidding, either, I have a very good eye & would know what colors would look good on you. Think about it, at the very least, you'd be giving me something positive to do!

@Jaimes: Too cool, I didn't get into prosthetics because I discovered a latex allergy while taking the class! It's actually harder, IMO, to translate your vision into 3-D than it is to draw. But I think it's great that you pursued your interest & found a way to participate when you might not even have tried since you don't draw. And, I swear, airbrushing is just so damn cool, it looks good even if you don't know what you're doing. But, throw in a little practice & talent and you get some amazing results. Do you use airbrush in your photography at all? (I don't know how much of the developing you do yourself.)

@Trysexual: No way! The things you learn about people on here & in the strangest threads, too! I love your practical side about going for Holmes on Homes! But, that you actually tried out for HGTV? Wow! I take it, you didn't get the show to fix up your house? All I know is if I saw that Lindy woman & run screaming back inside & lock them out - no feathers glued on my walls or a sandbox for the floor! I really forgot about Holmes on Homes, though for this topic, but just goes to show that not all reality TV is garbage.

Aw, thanks!

I am a photoshop minimalist. I brighten eyes a tad bit, relieve some undereye discoloration and soften (not remove!) the undereye wrinkle. I also take out obvious blemishes, but will leave in some natural birthmarks. I spent enough time as a director flipping through headshots that it drove me up the wall when people stood in front of me and looked nothing like their picture, or their photo spoke nothing of the type of personality I would be working with. I hate looking at the celebrity magazines and seeing crucial expression features completely replaced in favor of flawless, plastic skin and neon white eyes.

My company name is Ki Photographer. Ki means energy. As a director, that is ALL my actors hear from me. "Energy this, energy that. Don't touch this or your energy is grounded. Do use this to shift the energy here. Keep the energy moving..." And on and on and on. So this ended up being the driving force behind my photography. I want my subjects to be full of energy. It relaxes them for the camera, they have much more fun during the entire process, it makes the photograph pop naturally, and kind of eliminates most of the need for air brushing, since their energy is what makes them beautiful. Most of my editing is playing with light and contrast.

It's the photographer's job to be a photographer, not a graphic designer. I understand flattering composition, posing, and lighting. I make people look beautiful because they are beautiful. I don't need a photoshop filter to do that, and I do take pride in the feedback I get from all of my actors, whose casting directors were over the moon that their headshots truly looked like them. Same thing with weddings. My couples feel like it wasn't just a bunch of pictures I took, but the entire energy of their day. That's a pretty amazing feeling.

Sorry if that got a bit aggressive, but I do take a pretty strong stance against many of the current advertising trends. People aren't people anymore, and that really bothers me.

I agree with you & certainly don't think you were aggressive about stating it at all! I LOVED your points about not being a graphic designer & striping the life from these people! Anyone can spot a fake-happy photo from a mile away, the ones I saw had people radiating it from within & it read as genuine - I smiled while looking at them!

The other problem, of course, with the unbelievable manipulation of the images, is the unreal expectations it engenders in people about what it possible, let alone desirable. The points of most of those ads is to influence what we want to look like/be like. Unfortunately the more saturated the media crazy culture we live in becomes with this fabrication, the more dissatisfied everyone becomes with what they have! The advances in modern medicine are not helping that too much, either; now it's not just the photos that are "fixed"! Since when did we become so detached that we started to think any of that is normal, let alone natural or desirable? No wonder so many people are depressed & seeking chemical fortification. Well, didn't I just take a sunny day & drag in my dark cloud?
