Introducing #TrueorFalse

Contributor: Stellar Stellar
Hello, my beautiful community!

I want to start a new weekly topic, where we will discuss common facts and myths about sex. I'll pick a random fact, we'll talk it over, propose confirmations and refutations from personal experience, and at the end of the week we'll decide whether the fact is true or is it false. Kinda like Myth Busters

Let's start with something really simple.
Many people say that sex cures headaches.
Do you believe this statement to be true or false? Have you tried curing headache with sex? If you did, did it work?

For me, it is definitely TRUE. Though it is hard to force yourself to move when you have a headache, if you'll engage in sexual activity, the relief will come along with the climax.

For me, that would also be true. I've had sex many time just to cure a migraine. It worked!

We both say false. Only because neither of us have tired that as a remedy. We seldom get h/a's,( knock on wood) Even if the answer turns out to be true. I doubt if I could get OW to have any type of sex while discomforted.

Now after The proof is cited, I will have her read it.

I say true, when my dr told me to use sex to relieve my headaches I thought he was nuts. It has indeed helped, of course it's not always that easy to just drop and do it but when we can it does.

I don't know about "curing" a headache, but, I certainly don't pay attention to it as much after sex .

I also believe this to have some truth. Although, sometimes difficult to get in the mood once experiencing a full blown headache, sex does get the blood flow and endorphins buzzing. Before you know it you're feeling so much better

I was really wondering if the positive effect of sex is of psychosomatic character or physical? I mean, we could really feel relief just because we are aroused and enjoying something so consuming as intercourse, but there is also a real physical effect - like accelerating the blood flow and boosting the hormones. Which of those does the trick? Or do they both work as a team?

There have been a couple of studies on this sort of thing, and the findings have been generally positive. I mean, they're mostly based on self-report, so they're not double blind RCTs or anything, but the validity's about as high as it can get. Even simply administering sex hormones has been correlated to improvements on certain kinds of headaches - so I imagine that it's kind of both the mental state and the physical!

As for me, just about the only time that I masturbate when a partner isn't present is when I have a headache. So based on my own self-report, I give it an A+.

"The Daily Mail reports that researchers found the release of endorphins during sex act as natural painkillers on the central nervous system and lessen a headache."

So here. And there're lots of those out there in the internet.

Although!

"According to Dr. Green, sex can cause three different types of headaches, which can all lead to migraines: an explosive headache, a tension headache, and a positional headache."

And the lats study also states that sex can be a trigger of a headache or even make it worse, if the headache is of a migraine character. That's because most of the people who suffer from migraines are genetically predisposed to it, and it seems that each occasional jolt of the body can result in something not as sexy as we would like it to.

I say true because it has helped me when I've had headaches.

My sister-in-law is a chiropractor and I've heard her mention before that she told a woman that her treatments would be better if she would have an orgasm. I don't know why she said this or based upon what fact, but I know she said it.

I get migraines, however sex usually does help at least somewhat.
