Ladies who paint their nails...

Contributor: Ansley Ansley
Do you feel more confident about your hands (in general) when your nails have a fresh coat of paint on them?

I don't often paint my nails but when I do, I find myself talking with my hands a lot more than when they aren't painted. Just curious. Happy Friday!

I definitely feel more confident about my hands when my nails are freshly painted. When they're chipping I tend to try and hide them. And sometimes even the color has a slight effect on my mood. Some colors make me feel more sophisticated, while others make me feel fun and girly.

I feel confident about my hands if I've filed/shaped my nails. Right now I'm keeping clear coat strengthener on them - I have this 1 nail that is trying to split down the middle, so I'm just using the strengthener on all of them. And I'm amazed how nice a clear coat looks on them!

Of course, if I have a coat of polish I feel they look even nicer. I always talk with my hands a LOT, so that never changes. But I definitely feel girlier and sexier if my nails are looking all pretty and nice.

i use nail polish for my videos. i just think it looks nicer. but as a rule i hate polish. It smells, the remover smells, and after a few hours it is chipping and looks horrible.

just my thoughts. other ladies look so nice with their nails painted. but not me. it just chips away and causes me more work..

I usually leave my nails natural, but I got a gel manicure for a Christmas party and they still look great. I'm thinking about keeping it up since there has been very little chipping. I do feel more polished and profesional looking. I talk with my hands the same amount though. Happy Friday!

I always do! They start chipping in 3 days or so, though, and then I don't feel quite as nice.

Definitely! Especially as a cashier, customers always see my hands at work. I feel much better when my nails are either freshly painted or natural. Chipped nail polish is the worst. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to paint them every few days.

I use my hands a lot regardless of paint on them or not. But I do find that I think my hands are much slimmer and more attractive with it on.

never thought about it, but i guess so, until they start chipping

Absolutely. I paint them every few days. 180+ bottles of polish, hehe.

I feel really happy when I paint them and they come out looking really nice! It's an accomplishment and just looking at them can help brighten my mood.

I've recently gotten into nail polish, My favorite nail polish is Zoya. I don't know that it affects how I feel about myself, it's just fun to do.

I definitely feel a lot more confident when I paint my nails. When I was younger, I got one of my fingers slammed in a car door so that nail is all squished and looks slightly awkward. When I paint them, I feel a lot better about my hands.

Oh yes! I feel more confident and prettier. Especially because I am a chronic nail-biter.

I just love the way my fingers look with a fresh coat of paint on the nails.

I usually end up smearing my nails before they dry so when I really want my hands to look a little nicer I'll sometimes get them professionally done, but it just costs so much

Of course! I love having a fresh coating of nail polish on! Unfortunately it only lasts until my next work shift but still!

Here lately, If I paint them, I do something funky with them. Like, right now I have them all purple, except my ring finger on both nails and they have a glittery purple on them and my left hand has tiny black dots across the tips.

I always use a strengthener as a basecoat and a topcoat so it lasts longer. If I don't paint them, I use just strengthener + top coat. I'm a nail snob. My friends always want to see what I've done with them. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with them.

I don't paint mine very often. I just really don't care. Nails are nails. Mine are clean and that's all that matters to me.

I get these weird things on my hands, though. These little clusters of tiny blister-looking things. After a few weeks, they turn rough and begin peeling away, leaving bright pink "new" skin. I'm a bit self-conscious of those, but it's been going on for over ten years, so I'm used to it. Painting my nails would do nothing to hide that.

I also cook and bake a lot and nail polish is not very sanitary. It begins chipping away the same day I paint my nails and it continues to chip away for a couple weeks. All that would be going into my food. Not good.

Yes. I paint my nails almost every other day. I'm a nail technician and I have hundreds of polishes so I rotate frequently.

I do. I am not confident about my fingers/hands if they don't have a nice coat of polish. I spend a lot of time on my nails. I always feel so much better in general with my regular neon pink, nicely painted nails. I also like when I catch a glimpse of the bright color in the mirror against my clothes. LOL. Maybe that's weird, but yes, I love having mine painted!

I need to start doing my nails again.

I used to get my nails done at the salon on a regular basis, and when I did, I didn't bite my nails nearly as much. When I don't do my nails (either at the salon or myself), I bite my nails and cuticles. My hands look really ragged right now, because I'm not trying to keep them up. When I'm going through the effort of making my nails look pretty, I try to take better care of the skin around them too.

YAY! So cool to know I'm not the only one. I do feel so much more girly with my nails painted. But my nail beds are so small I can't pull off the fancy designs. Or dark colors.

I like to make sure my nails are painted and un-chipped whenever I'm taking toy pics or making a video. I definitely feel better showing my hands when they are newly painted
