Lance Armstrong is facing having ALL his titles stripped now for using "blood doping". Regardless of if you think he did or didn't....would YOU?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
You are a world class athlete. Hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements, plus fame...accolades rest on how you do. If you could use performance enhancing drugs or do "other techniques" (blood doping) to enhance your ability to win, and if you were SURE the technique would not be detected......BE HONEST...THINK ABOUT IT (poll is private).....WOULD YOU?????? HONESTLY...would you?

I may not have the best moral compass on the planet, but I have a damn good set of ethics. No way would I stoop to such levels.

No, I just couldn't do it. I've always prided myself as being an honest person, even though being honest has made me a very lonely and poor person today. I've learned that people don't like hearing the truth nowadays. I used to admire him but I just feel like the son of a bitch cheated on me...I can't stand liars and fakes, so this really pisses me off. I'm with Stormy on this one! I just couldn't face myself if I did something like that.

There is no concrete proof he was doping. Heaven forbid someone actually believe the man had the strength and desire to be the world's best 7 times over. Facing the potential loss of your life can do extraordinary things.

I feel bad for him and I understand why he would throw in the towel after so many years. All these officials are relying on is hearsay.

I couldn't do it. I would have to live with that for the rest of my life. It would affect my integrity.

There's no such thing as foolproof cheating.

Not worth it.

I don't know what I would do. But I do feel bad for Lance. I don't think it's fair to strip him of all his titles without proof.

I don't think doping is fair, but we don't know if Lance did or not. It's sad. I can definitely understand his giving up, even if he IS in the right.

Wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did that. I'm not a fan of cheating.

I'm with Stormy on this one. Lance is not admitting or agreeing with ANYTHING that he's been charged with, he's simply saying that time is precious and he's tired of wasting it fighting with the USADA, since Travis Tygart clearly will not rest until he's "made an example" of someone he doesn't like.

As for the doping issue, the entire world of sports can KISS MY ASS. If there's cheating, the national organizations are well aware of it, but don't say anything because the immediate gains are high (prestige, money, etc.) and later on they can "correct" the "oversight" through disciplinary action. Here's an example:

"In 2003, Dr. Wade Exum, the United States Olympic Committee's director of drug control administration from 1991 to 2000, gave copies of documents to Sports Illustrated which revealed that some 100 American athletes who failed drug tests and should have been prevented from competing in the Olympics were nevertheless cleared to compete."

When it's in their favor, EVERY sports organization (MLB, NFL, Olympics, pick-one…) turns a blind-eye, be it to steroids, drugs, rape or worse.

I had to look up what the heck blood doping was. That sounds scary as hell. Blood transfusions to boost performance? Jeez.

I'd never do the blood doping 'cause it sounds creepy. Other things? Eh, maybe. Hard to say since I'm not at all athletic.

I know it's kind of hard to prove stuff like that when it's been years later.
However, if he did do it, I could care less about his life; He screwed himself over. If it makes me sound like a terrible person, then so be it; it's just how I feel right now. Tons of athletes and celebrities are cheating bastards anyway...

It's not cheating if everyone is using performance enhancers.

And in an abstract sort of way, I have to ponder - is a man using viagra to get a stiffy cheating? He's clearly incapable of achieving the erection of his youth without the drug...

To me, it is indeed cheating. Everyone else may view it differently, and that's perfectly fine, but I just stated how I felt about the situation. If everyone wanted to cheat on their SAT's it still doesn't justify the action. To me it is all cheating regardless of how many people are doing it.

Here's my interpretation of the Viagra thing: The man isn't competing in a competition to get a hard on; If there was some sort of dumb competition for that with a clear set of rules and ethics that all the competitors must follow and the taking of Viagra was against those rules, then yes, he is a cheating bastard. If the man isn't in a competition for hard ons, then I don't see anything wrong with taking Viagra. Still, that's a very interesting thing to ponder.

Anyway, I'm tired of talking about Lance Armstrong and doping; I heard that Nike is not going to stop endorsing him, so the guy should be fine financially at least . I really should be focusing on my health situation at the moment; I have to see a nephrologist in the morning. Stupid kidneys...

Speaking in a purely evolutionary sense, yes men are competing against other men when it comes to erections. If you can't get hard, you're not making babies. Unless you do the whole IVF thing (which I also think is "cheating", but any form of reproduction or stopping reproduction by using birth control is "cheating", too).
