Mall stores that have gone out of business.

I'm not a big mall shopper but Christmas shopping this season did bring me to a few. I noticed that stores that used to be staples in the mall are no longer there. No Hickory Farms, no Spencer Gifts, no J. Riggins.

What were some of your favorite mall stores that have gone out of business?

There is still a Spencer's here. My malls stay PACKED. If anything, you have to worry about that little store you might enjoy just randomly leaving. Happens too often.

borders/walden books. some were thankfully purchased by other bookstores, or Books A million, which was basically just borders, but others went out of business. There are some things you can't get on amazon, you need a bookstore.

I miss Borders for their in-store concerts and readings. Barnes and Noble is still around but they're not the same.

I couldn't agree more; I really loved that bookstore. However, all the Borders in my area were stand alone stores, so my lamenting their loss doesn't exactly count for this thread. Rather fittingly though, last night I opened one of my books and it's Borders receipt came fluttering out. It may be a sad little reminder from 2009 but it has decidedly transformed itself into an effective bookmark.

I almost never go to the mall, so it was disheartening to learn that the store I used to work in, at the end of high school, is no longer there.

About 10 years ago, I worked for a division of Spencer's called "Glow". It was all glow in the dark/black light stuff. That division closed.

My last roomie worked for Borders at two different locations before they closed.

Honestly, I don't go to malls that often any more. They're almost exactly the same over priced stuff at the same over priced stores...except Godiva. Godiva's good stuff.
