One thing after another! UGH!

Well GEE I've been a ball of fun and sunshine lately, haven't I? Seems every post I've made lately has been sad and depressing, and I'm really sorry for that! I'm just going through a LOT lately, and the best way I know how to cope is to talk about it.

So, here's more of my whining!

Yesterday we took my dog, who is only 3, to the vet for a fever. They drew some blood and gave him an antibiotic and sent us home. Today we got the call with the results, and it turns out that my BEAUTIFUL dog is dying of lymphatic cancer, and was given 2-4 months to live! 2-4 months?! He's still a BABY! And a SWEET baby at that! He's the best dog we've ever owned, full of love and so silly! He always gets in the way, he walks in front of you and stops all the time to turn around and see if you're still there, and trips you! He lays in doorways and blocks them! In the rain, he thinks he's 5 pounds and tries to fit in your lap for comfort (BIG BABY!) but he is actually 80lbs, so it doesn't work out too well!

He is such a sweetheart. And now I don't have much time left with him. And this I am finding out the DAY after I just had my little kitty cremated!

For such an emotional woman, I am dealing with an awful lot!

So here is my sweet baby boy, Koda. My pretty mix of German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Schnauzer, Elkhound and Giant Poodle.

(the wet puddle was from him chewing open my water bottle LOL he didn't sit in his own pee lol)

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry, Peggi. Your dog, Koda, is absolutely beautiful, and it is just rotten that you don't have much time left with him.

I lost my own fur baby last year, and I'm still grieving for her. Losing a loved member of the family is so hard, especially furry members.

Big hugs to you! If you need to chat, feel free to DM me. HUGS.

Oh no! He looks like such a sweetie. Make sure his time with you is as happy as possible... but I'm sure you will, you seem like you'd be great to your pets.

Peggi, I'm so sorry! That's so terrible to think you have years left but now only months he looks like a sweetie. I know this is a sad time but make sure you enjoy his time left.. Take pictures, video too! I'd make a little bucket list for him and go do the things he loves to do! I don't know if you live near a beach, but if you do take him! It is a terrible thing, but at least you know and you can spend time with him and go enjoy doing things he loves sorry for the ramble! That's what I would do my thoughts are with you

I'm so sorry to hear that. That is just so unfair, it tugs at my heart to hear that. What a cute guy. Just love him and make his days great while he is here with you. I wish I had some advice on how to deal, I hope you are okay. I can't imagine going through this all at once. If you need anyone to talk to feel free to message me anytime

Wow, that is so terrible after what you've already been through this week! That's so sad. The only words of comfort I can think of are lame: at least you have time to prepare for this death? I find sudden deaths like Stormy's much harder to deal with. I'm so sorry, Peggi.

What a gorgeous doggie he is! We had an rottie/pit mix once that was convinced she was a lap dog too. Cutest thing ever until your legs went numb under her. =^.^=
You should probably spend his last few months just enjoying your time with him and getting yourself mentally prepared for his passing to make it a little less painful. It'll hurt still but at least if you're ready to say goodbye when his time is up it won't be quite as much of a shock.

I swear someone needs to invent a supplement for pets that makes them able to live longer, it's so unfair when a disease cuts them down in the prime of their life like that...of course it's unfair when it happens to people too.

Wow he is GORGEOUS!

That must have been such upsetting news, I imagine I would still be shock after hearing that! I hope you'll be able to do lots of fun things together in the time you have left. Taking him to all his favorite places, giving him all his favorite foods, and taking loads of pictures and videos of him. Soak up all the memories you can and make as many new ones as possible.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Cancer is such an invisible beast. You're definitely NOT whining. I'm just really sorry that you're going to be dealing with this so quickly after losing your kitty, although truthfully there never would be a good time I suppose, would there?

Take care of each other and love each other.

Just an update for everyone, today, July 12th, 2012, we are taking him in to be put down.

The tumor under his chin in the lympnodes grew rapidly and he was showing signs of failure. High temp, wheezing while breathing, disorientation...

So we decided to do the humane thing and say our final goodbyes. I'll miss my sweet baby boy

At least he won't have to suffer anymore, you're doing the right thing for him. You could always take your favorite picture of him and get it made into a magnet so you can keep it on the fridge as a memorial of sorts.
I have one of my Gypsy that I had made before she passed and every now and then when I walk by it I sort of rub my fingertip on her favorite spot that she liked scratched.
