Do you prefer classic literature or do you like modern books?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
Uh, I just like the pictures! (I think I'm going to add that as a choice, ha ha!)

Actually, as much as I'd like to enjoy it & really tried, (okay, was forced to read it in school), I didn't enjoy any of the literature read. Sure, its interesting and I appreciate it, but I don't enjoy reading it, it's too much like a school assignment!

So, I definitely choose modern books for my preference! What about you?

As long as a book is well written, I'm happy

Modern Classics! I love Orwell and Fitzgerald, but Bronte? Shelley? No thanks.

Modern! I can handle literature, and sometimes do enjoy it, but not very often can I really, really enjoy it.

I most definitely prefer the classics. There are some decent modern books, but generally speaking the quality of literature has dropped significantly.

I like to read a mix of literature. I read so often, I can't be too picky!

Modern I think it is because of some of the words and references they make in older books I don't care for

There's good and bad of each!! I'm reading Les Miserables right now and it's stunning, but a lot of older prose can be pretty difficult to get into. I love lots of modern books as well. There are great books from every era!

This, or at least the ones that survived seem to vast outweigh what is currently available. I have a handful of contemporary authors I really like, but most of my favorites are from long ago.

Lol @ "I just like the pictures."

I love Charles Bukowski, HP Lovecraft, a few others (my train of thought died)
I also like newer stuff like Harry Potter, new horror like Stephen King and medical horror like Robin Cook (there is enough medical horror going on in real life ha ha), a few random authors who I have one book from but no others.

I also have a library book overdue, I must remember to return it so thanks for reminding me.
