How many people do you consider a real friend, one that will always have your back, and do right by you?

Very few. I find it very hard to find someone that will be there for you and not just look out for themselves when push comes to shove.

Physically, none. But I have a couple online friends who are always there for me and do what they can to support me.

I only have one real friend who I know will always be there for me, even when they don't really care about whats bothering me. She'd been my friend for 16 years, we are currently roommates, and I couldn't have asked for a better friend.

4 or 5, they're people I can rely on both to be there for me and keep me from doing stupid things

I'm frequently surprised to find how many of my friends are "real". A lot more than I'd have guessed. I love to ask for favors now, because that makes it easy to tell right away. If I find someone can't be depended on, I stop making any effort in the friendship and usually, it just dies of natural causes. The friends I've kept are all pretty awesome.

3, but I'm not the best friend either because I just don't stay in touch. I've moved 4 times in the past 3 years and I'm not good at long distances, texting, phone calls, and the like.

Two... possibly three. I say two if I cannot count my mother.

I have moved around the world a bit, and I find that is one of the true tests to friendship. How well people can communicate. I have lost a lot of people I considered friends over the years simply because they couldn't be bothered to drop a message or attempt to keep in touch. To me... that is one of the most important aspects. People I feel a connection too, I make the effort to keep in touch often with... if it is not reciprocated... what is the point?

I too am pretty surprised about the amount of "real" friends i have made. While i do feel there are only a handful of people i can 100% depend on, my partner included, i have made many more friends in the last year or so that i realize i trust more than i thought and miss them more often now a days.

I know my parter and my mother are at the top of the list with my bestie who i talk with daily. and when we're not fighting, my neighbor too.

I don't know. I have quite a few good friends, but I am not sure that any of them are real, in a sense that I can always depend on these people. I got burned badly by someone I thought was my best friend once, so I tend not to trust people too much.

I have 3... All are very dear female friends of mine and they all live at least 7 hours from me. But I would drop everything in a heartbeat if they needed me and I know they would do the same.

Less than ten, unfortunately. I would do anything for them!

I try to keep nothing but real friends around. Being chronically ill, I found who those people were rather quickly.

2 for sure - they are long term friends & have seen me go through a lot. I possibly have a third. time will tell.

Here on EF about 3, none others that I would risk that kind of closeness too. I've been burnt too many times before for too long to let anyone get that close.

wow I'm pretty hypersocial compared to most of you guys XD I can't count everyone, maybe 30+ real good friends plus a lot of friendly acquaintances/getting to know still? I'm really social, I can't live without people haha.
