Should there be a national ban on using a cell phone while driving?

Nope. Won't work. Cite individual drivers for unsafe driving based on the act observed or committed while they were on the phone sure! But outlaw the use of the phone? Won't work. Speeding is illegal and most still do it. Drugs are illegal and many still use them. Driving drunk is illegal and sadly many still do. You can pass all the laws you want but some people are just not going to follow or take the chance they might get caught but probably not. Act on the individual moving violation they committed such as unsafe lane change, speed, reckless driving etc. Forget thephone part working by itself. I choose which laws I will and will not follow every day - as do most people. Think not? The next time your late and in a hurry and go 1 mile over the speed limit your making a conscious decision to break a law - its just the real world. I also realize if I get a ticket for doing it I bought it by my own actions - but thats ok by me.
