I tried a kit once but it didn't work very well for me.

I'm actually just starting it (only shaved before). I'm cooking the stuff because you can make more at a time, I've only found it online at Target and it's a pretty small jar. The cotton strips method is supposed to be less painful and more effective I think? so far I haven't tried anywhere but my legs, I'm thinking I'll wait until I'm well practiced to try my pubic area.

Nah. I have a MOOM4MEN kit that says use the cotton strips method. Dunno if they are more effective or not but the original method should be more painless because you do it in the direction of the hair.

First occasion was pretty nasty because I only shaved the pubic hair, no other methods were used since I was 13? I started early^^ So I looked pretty bad and it hurt for the first time, but eventually turned out to be working. Second time it was not painful or red at all but I didn't find it too effective. I was using some baby powder as a base, some said it' good. Well I don't know. Anyway sugaring works, my only concern is there are some hair that aren't pulled out rather broken above the skin. What should I do to avoid it? Use more? Let it stay on the skin for more time?

My advice for men is don't do the balls or below or around them. Only the upper parts. For the rest just use the razor. They don't really have to be totally smooth all the time anyway.

More info here!

I think it's supposed to be more effective with the strips (pulling against hair growth) because it's less likely to just slide off the hair. I agree on the pain issue, though. It seems more logical that the original method would be less painful. I just haven't researched the pain issue much, considering anything where you rip out hair should be a little painful.

I picture it being extremely difficult doing it on the scrotum with all the stretchy skin...

And Moom's the one I used, too! I approve of it. Just make sure to read the directions. Paper-thin layer of sugaring stuff is key, as is tautness of the skin.

Do you do it right after a shower or wait some? Have you tried it with a tiny amount of baby powder or just without it?

I wait a little while, but not more than a day. Like within 2-3 hours? I did it without baby powder for my legs, but I intend to try baby powder for the pubic area.

Check my links then, it's worth a try. I would not wax (I find that a bit weird for a male but somehow this sugaring thingy is ok!). No way to do my legs, never. But the armpits and pubic hair is unwanted. I was thinking about laser but it doesn't work for many and it's expensive.. This seems to work, I'm totally soft for a week, the second week some hair appears but the best thing is that they don't itch!! They just appear ot of the blue maninly on the third and fourth week. So I do it monthly or every 3 weeks.

I've done it and still do it occasionally, but it doesn't work as well as I'd like it to. I can't seem to find a place that does it professionally near me, but I'd pay to get my legs and bikini done instead of shaving every other day.

I've seen it done, but have never tried it. I will probably just stick to waxing

I'd really like to try it. You say you're "cooking the stuff"? Is there a recipe somewhere?

I just been through the third time I was doing it. It took ~20 minutes the sugaring itself then another ~20 minutes clearing the remaining hair which wasn't too many anyway. Since then it's perfect, it's been a week now, never been this soft before.

The salon I go to uses sugaring. I've also tried it at home with good results.

How is the laser treatment going? I'm interested in it, but doubt it will provide permanent results.

So far so good. I've been told the secret is to have relatively dark hair and light skin. My wife fits this description. She's only had 3 of the six treatments - seems they are increasing the power each time. She said the last time she could feel 'little pricking' sensations when the laser zapped a hair follicle.

Regrowth had definitely been reduced. She has 3 more to go - then we can comment on the investment.

I tried it. It was an at home thing and it didn't work for crap! Maybe you'll have better luck with a professional but those at home kits are a waste of time and money.

Do you remember the kit name? I tried moom and it worked fine.

I did at first not get the layer of sugar stuff thin enough, and the hair (and sugar stuff) did NOT come off with the strip. That could also be the problem; that's why a lot suggest warming the stuff slightly to make it easy to spread into a super-thin layer.

It's best when it's honey like. Don't be lazy to put it back to the microwave for 5 seconds every few minutes. Consistency is the key. It's a big plus that the base consistency it ready made, I can't imagine trying to cook it right and wasting a lot of sugar lol.

I tried it once but it didn't work. The mix that I made didn't turn out exactly right, and when I tried to use it, it didn't remove much hair at all.

By "cooking" I thought you were being funny. I cook with sugar, like cakes and pies and stuff.

I know what "sugaring" for hair is, but really don't want to try it.
