I kind of think that's a little too medical for a child, even if it is more economical. And also really reminds me of pee pads for puppies. Hahahaha

China freaking Mobile.

I called in to cancel my internet plan on my phone, but they didn't put it through so charged me for the month of May, and as a result I've now no money on my phone that carried over from April. So, when I left my home this morning to go put some cash on, Notta. The whole China Mobile system was down and even calling into their customer care line to blast them for not removing me from their gprs system, all they could be bothered to say "sorry" and to call back when their system was back up.

I just growled into the phone, why even bother having a customer care line if they cannot even be damned to deal with a customer issue?

And my other whine other than not having a phone where I can actually use it... kind of freeing if you ask me though... is this weather. When the hell will Spring be over so I can stop inhaling dust and sand? I am so tired of all the sand storms and the dust storms. It seems no matter how many times I clean my clothes, it still feels like I am being sent through a sand blaster as more sand and dust gets into the material.

And that's it for me!!!!

I sit there, actually laughing out loud when I go to this site. So much of these problems are things I experience. (Not the student, live with parents ones, but my kids have those.) I LOVE this site. My kids thought I would enjoy it. They were right.

I'm glad you enjoy it.

AW! Poor elephant. Elephants don't do well in cold climates unless they are allowed a very warm place to go when they get cold.

Poor baby.

Now I'm sad for this elephant.

Oh, I'm sorry. I had to chug antacid liquid (the thick chalky yummy one) I would put it in the refrigerator so it would taste better.

I would get heartburn so bad I would feel it in my ears. I had to sleep virtually sitting up for days on end sometimes.

I feel your pain. It will get better when the baby drops.

I hope you heal soon.

My mother was a nurse, and she had four daughters. We had no choice as she always said, when you can afford your own mattress, then you can remove it. Till then? Sucks to be you. They worked out great as they are so long lasting as I ended up using some of them as a camping ground sheet as they kept the moisture from the ground out. Did they change the colour on them??? the last time I saw them, they were white top with a thicker white bottom.

We used the disposable ones for our sickly animals if they were indoors, or lots of newspaper with a large garbage bag as a liner!!!

The Chux in the USA are blue plastic back with white gauze and padding.

I put plastic covers which zippered up to cover the entire mattress for my youngest child. She was really the only one who would occasionally wet the bed. Then a towel. I didn't use diapers after she was potty trained, as I felt it would give her "permission" to pee her pants. The Chux are fairly expensive, and they wrinkle up when the patient (eh child) moves in their sleep. They're OK for kids who have bedwetting problems, better than diapers, but most families can't afford them every night for kids who only pee the bed sometimes. I put plastic covers on the bed, with a bed pad and a towel under the bottom sheet, so when the rare occasion my youngest wet the bed it would be easier to clean up.

I'm tired all the time and can never seem to get motivated or have energy enough to do any of the chores on my ongoing list. Cleaning, reading, writing.. all of it just goes out the window. Ugh. I'm in such a rut.

We have a high-quality mattress cover on all the beds. It's terry cloth on top to absorb, but it has a very flexible PUL on the back to keep it from soiling the bed. It's also designed for preventing bed bugs because it has a very fine mesh lining that completely covers all the exposed parts of the mattresses. They're pretty fantastic.

She also rarely has accidents. She's 4. It only happens when she sleeps too long. Thank goodness!

These ones are the ones I was talking about, NOT the blue plastic backing with the gauze uppers, I guess they are called Invacare, and something generally bought for seniors. And really not that pricey considering they are washable, on only 20dollars before shipping, and the ones I remember as a child, were with us all through my teenage years, and then were passed to my sister when she had children, and once again they move to another country with another sister who is expecting. So they do last. A very long time.

Those Crux ones are the disposable ones, and they were not the ones I was speaking of as I did mention reusable, and how the ones with the blue backing and the gauze tops did not work so well and were disposable.

The creator of zoocheck (the Canadian version of the AZA that decides if zoos get accreditation or not) is one of the activists that sued the government on behalf of Lucy, he's also an author that I'm currently working with. I'm editing his children' book on Animal Sanctuaries right now (which is amazing). Anyhow he turns me onto the issue, and Lucy will be in the next book he writes with us...it's just too bad there won't be a happy ending though.

I have a horrible migraine that keeps getting worse and worse. I'm dizzy and in pain and can't see properly and keep throwing up. I had to take a whole bunch of medicine, including my abortive, aspirin as a painkiller, and an antiemetic to stop me from throwing up. Despite all that it won't go away. I've got all the lights off and I'm wearing sunglasses, and the contrast on my laptop is turned all the way down. If it gets much worse I'll be stuck lying in bed in my blackout room with nothing but pain to entertain me. Boooooo.

I'm sorry. Been there.

I find using ice packs on my neck and forehead and a heating pad on the top of my back helps. Epsom salt baths help a lot, too.

I find I need to turn off the computer when I get that bad of a migraine. The light bothers me.

I hope you feel better.

Thank you. The light bothers me too, but I've got the brightness all the way down and the contrast way down and I'm wearing sunglasses. XD Stylin'. I just went to take a nice bath but my SO (who is sick with a cold) beat me too it. Heh. At least I caught her washing her legs.... XD

I just told my Dad a few minutes ago that he cannot live with us anymore, he needs a lot more care than I am capable of giving him. I just went out to the RV (he is staying in our fully set up and equipped RV, since he did not want to stay in the house for privacy reasons), and he could not get out of bed today. He soiled the bed numerous times and could not stand up or clean himself up. I knew he was going to have bad days, but I think he just hit bottom today. He is terminal, so we expected something to happen, just not all in one day.

I am scared to check on my Dad, afraid he will be dead. I am checking on him every hour and a half tonight, might have to take tomorrow off work and find other living arrangements for him. I feel like a failure as a daughter right now.

I'm so sorry js250. You shouldn't feel guilty. There are people for whom taking care of the sick is their career, they are far better able to take care of him, so you can just spend time with him as a daughter and not with the burden of also being worried about not being able to care for him properly.

You're not a failure as a daughter. As someone who watched her mother die from cancer, I can tell you that having a professional care for him instead of you will give him a deeper sense of dignity, because he will know that you do not have to see him at his absolute worst.

Do not feel badly. Spend time with him as his daughter. Bring him pictures and loved ones and anything else he wants.
