Every 10 years I buy a 5 year old car! Odd for a Californian - but cars easily last to 150k-200k miles here.

Have never bought a car, don't know when I will. Right now, I live close enough to the necessary places to walk or bike. If it's farther, I get a ride with someone.

You can do it! Just pretend you have a new car and start paying a "car payment" into an account just for your car. Thats what I have done in the past. You save a lot that way!
