Laundry--what is your method of dealing with the laundry? (A friend and I were discussing our laundry habits and trying to get the other person to see how much better it is the way we do....still out on that one!)

--Do you have designated days?
--Wash a little every day?
--Let it pile up then do it all on one day?
--Wash clothes at home, bedding and such at a laundromat?
--Sort them or not?

I.. don't have a dresser. I wash "as needed, ahead of time"... yes, occasionally what I want is nowhere to be found.. but I generally keep my stuff clean

I have to use the coin-operated laundromat, so I only do my laundry when I save enough coins for it. Which is less often than I probably should.

I sort my laundry before I do it and laundry/sheet day is every Tuesday. Towels and things are on Friday and Ironing is on Monday. It helps me manage everything.

We just do it once a week, usually on Friday, which is the day before I start my 3 day work week.

Usually do a little every day or every other day. Oh and I hardly ever sort... don't have a lot of white clothes. Socks get ruined/lost/eaten by dryer gnomes no matter what anyway.

You got those nasty little sock trolls in your dryer too? I think the sock companies & dryer manufacturers worked together on this to keep us frustrated and buying socks, lol!!

I always buy the same dang socks--that way I am only short 1 sock every time. Made my life -and sock drawer- much simpler!!

I used to just wait until it needed to be done. but now I am doing a load a day. Seems much more manageable.

I do it every few days. I have separate compartments for undies and socks for each of us. Then it gets easy.

I have to do mine every other day with the kids around. Plus my son wears a uniform because he is in a Charter School. That does not mean I fold it up right away though. I will fold it when I get sick of looking at it because that is the part I can't stand doing.

My wife has several laundry baskets. One for darks, whites, towels, sheets and blankets, and one for kids clothes. Most of the time she does it on the weekend along with her cleaning. She will not let me help wash unless it's to carry the baskets for her to and from the utillity room. She is very specific on how she wants it done her way.

We leave the washer and dryer "open" on the weekends for our room mate to do his laundry. Through the week, ours gets washed whenever there's enough for a full load, and those are sorted between "hot" (undies, sheets, towels, etc.) or "cold" (jeans, tees, etc) loads.

I have two designated days a week for regular laundry. My kids are responsible to wash their own bedding and my son washes his work clothes. I sort by lights and darks on laundry days.

I do it all on one day of the week, usually 3 or 4 loads, between other household chores.

I do mine every couple days. There are usually only 2-3 loads and then the blankets and sheets ever 3-4 days.

I let my hamper tell me. When it's overflowing, that's when it's time to do laundry. Bedding and towels are the only exception, I do them and them alone about every two - three weeks. And I have to sort! Otherwise, you'll ruin your clothes and everything will be a shade of dingy.

I wash them as a load gets dirty. I don't let them pile up. My roommate on the other hand lets them pile up. Not unless I do them. Which kinda pissed me off. But it is the only way I can keep my house clean.

I have a lot of clothes so theoretically I could go longer between loads of laundry but I have favorite pieces. I end up washing clothes once a week or biweekly. I do wash my work clothes weekly. I don't divide mine by color (unless it's something new that I expect to bleed) but I do separate thick, durable clothing from the daintier stuff.

I usually wash every three weeks and/or when I'm running low on my favorite undies. I have three sets of sheets so it accommodates that, but I usually do a Friday Sat, Sunday thing bc my drying rack can only hold so much. I hang out most of my clothes bc they last longer that way. I have things from like 6 years ago still hanging around.

Left to my own devices I do designated days, but my mother likes to wash every single day. It's like her favorite household chore.

Let it pile up and have one day to do it. And save up quarters. I am trying to learn the bar straw trick for free laundry right now because it takes a lot of quarters. I will do laundry when I run out of acceptable clothes to wear in my closet lmao.

I am guilty of the not doing it till I have to because I just have no energy to go up & down the stairs to the laundry room in the basement. I suppose if I was feeling better I would be a once a week person. But, even in college, I had lots of sheets, underwear, socks & clothes to last me a month or two if I wanted. I usually waited until I had full loads to take advantage of the cost.
Now I need to get my shit together! I wanted a house with a first floor laundry, but that didn't happen. At least I live alone & can let things pile up if I want. I end up doing a bunch of loads in a row & then having to find places to put all those clean clothes, ha ha. I still have a ton of undies, sheets & clothes so I am always clean, even if behind on laundry - that might be part of the problem, but oh well.

I lied.

My maid now does my laundry for me. She offered. So now I pay her a bonus because she is so lovely and nice!!!

My house is kind of small so I try not to let it pile up. I usually do a load once I get enough to fill the washer.

I hate going to the laundromat for no clear reason, since it is just down the street, and so I let it pile up a bit. I'm much better about it when I have a washer in my house.

We tend to let it pile up, and then do it all in one load. We've got a really good washer/dryer set, so we do all the bedding at home as well.
Not a whole lot of sorting, but my wife feels it's necessary to have all the silk-screened shirts inside-out. Anyone else do that?
