I had my nephew over for Sat. and an overnight stay. Trying to think of something special to do for breakfast that didn't involve me having to cook, I remembered his love of donuts. Luckily, a local donut shop moved into a new building and now is open 24 hrs, plus has a drive-thru! He was delighted to go in his jammies and get whatever he wanted (his mother is a health nut, but I told him it's a special treat because it's like a holiday being with me and everyone gets treats on holidays.)

Naturally, we had to go inside for him to pick out what he wanted because he needed to SEE what they all were. I ended up having to by a dozen different types so he could try them; he didn't know which would taste best. I didn't mind eating what he didn't like, so it a win/win

So, what donuts do YOU like? Multiple choice, of course, because like my nephew, no one should have to choose just one!

Crullers used to be my favorite when I was younger. But, my tastes have changed and I now don't care for the eggy taste, though I still love the texture, just slightly chewy, but light and not greasy.

Basically, I love fried dough!!!

BTW, sorry, everyone, for the misspell on the apple fritter !

My sister gave me some madeleines with orange essence in them and they were to die for! There are lots of uninspiring ones out there, but they are a pain in the ass to make yourself. But, when you find really good ones, they are so worth buying!

So, crullers, madeleines, cream puffs...do I sense another pastry/baked treats fan?

I ate donuts once and it was disgusting... The chocolate powdered ones. I guess I need to try other kinds.

Besides the small chocolate ones that you buy in stores, I will only eat the chocolate frosted donuts from Dunkin Donuts. The glazed donuts with just a chocolate layer on top.

I'm not much of a sweets eater so I think that is my reason behind not liking to many donuts.

After vacationing to Florida this past fourth of July to see family, our local dunkin donuts had some new ones, that sounded pretty yummy, due to their being a line and us buying for everyone else I didn't wanna buy a whole bunch for me to try, nor did I want to sit there and pick out which ones I wanted to, so I just ordered the normal. I will try some new ones one day however.

2: Maple Bacon Bar from Voodoo in portland

I have passed by Voodoo donuts lots of times, but I never bothered to try those maple bacon bars -- can you believe it?

I like chocolate filled, and chocolate frosted. I also like glazed and powdered sugar. I enjoy apple fritters, and I also like one that is like a cinnamon roll but it's classified (by DD) as a donut.

Cannoli's are so hard to get right. Most come out "gritty" for some reason.
