What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?

To be honest I didn't have that in mind but you're right of course.

I read comic books sometimes, read medical journals and scholarly papers because they're interesting, research stuff I'm interested in in-depth via internet and library, read philosophy textbooks sometimes, watch a lot of sci-fi, masturbate to dirty fanfiction, play Pokemon, spend time on tumblr, have considered going to a Supernatural convention, spend too much time on the internet.

11:11 Of course

On the other hand my mood goes down a bit at times like 19:33
definitely yours:11:23:58 Fibonacci Numbers , 21:15 Symmetric , 11:11

and these, naturally:
12:34 (am/pm)
1:23 (am/pm)
2:34 (am/pm)
3:45 (am/pm)
4:56 (am/pm)
6:54 (am/pm)
5:43 (am/pm)
4:32 (am/pm)
3:21 (am/pm)
2:10 (am/pm)
If you count army time, then you can include:
23:45
0:12
I remember:
01:02::03 04/05/06
and so many more, but...

...don't get me started, that's just the easy stuff, I really try to not go there when glancing at the clock because I can get lost for a few seconds in the combinations! I am not as math oriented as I think you are; you're a math & physics person, right? I'm just a pattern seeker, I suppose.

I never asked to see if other people did this because my parents frowned on anything that looked like we might be OCD & I have some residual shame based repression going on. I don't think I have a big problem, but do recognize most people don't do this, or they certainly don't talk about it Until here, that is!

I love History Channel documentaries too. But now they are like MTV in the 90s vs now because they don't even play any real history stuff, just have Pawn Stars and a bunch of reality shows.

I love cleaning and organizing. Not in an actually-OCD way, but I like it when things are neat and organized. Re-arranging things so they're in a more efficient / visually appealing set-up is fun.

I also love to play video games, like Dragon Age, the Elder Scrolls series, and Fire Emblem. Oh, and I like crafts~

I like altering baking recipes heavily or come up with my own out of thin air and test them out to see the results. This week, I've been fiddling around with my vanilla cake recipe, not because anything is wrong with it, but because I wanted to see what different mixing methods did to it.

I'll go through Wikipedia reading articles so I can fix the mistakes.

I've been fiddling around on Excel making graph paper from it then drawing out quilt patterns because it's fun to draw on graph paper. There's one particular pattern I wanted to buy, but I didn't want to actually buy it, so I graphed it all out, then cut all the pieces up to see how many different ways I could organise them.

I do the clock thing too but for me its a repition of numbers, I always see 3:33, 5:55 and 11:11 (double fence posts). I actually expect to see any time now with any number duplicated, matter of fact my points yesterday when I was done displayed 3333.

I also love to do combinations like 09:36 => 9=3+6 and stuff.

You're right, I am a physics engineer, but a quite uncommon one.
I guess as a child I also might have been diagnosed as I have been obsessed with symmetry and even numbers.

My parents were very unhappy that I was not obsessed with a tidy room

A friend realized repetive numbers everywhere which was quite funny.

She found the numbers at license plates, at the clock and so on.

Probably spending a lot of my tv time watching documentaries, either that or playing with grammar and spelling.
My latest favorite thing is to try and say the stuff I see on street signs and the like backwards. The pronunciation is the hard part, but it's fun.

I think I was also probably the ONLY one in my english class that thought diagramming sentences and analogies were the highlight of the school day. x'D

Wow, so do I at the moment. I started a few weeks ago to spell all the villages's names backwards in mind. Quite funny if you find something like:

maddog spelled backwards means goddam

@KyotoAngel & Eugler,: OMG, you are my people!!! I do the same thing, hahaha! No kidding the pronunciation it the tricky part, but that is what makes it a challenge & interesting. Do I care if people think I'm talking to myself in gibberish, heck no, I'm on a mission! I remember doing the backwards speak in the car as kids on long drives & it was so easy back then! It's amazing and looking back, I think I should have honed it more instead of listening to my parents saying, "stop it"! It's a talent, for God's sake!

The 9:36 type pattern stuff is often how I memorize long numbers, addresses & phone numbers. If I can find a pattern, or somehow make sense of a sequence, I will never forget it. I guess I have a need to organize most sensory input for some reason. That's also why I studied psychobiology, because I wanted to know why we do the things we do - the biological basis of behavior. It all comes down to the why, why, why, like a little kid! I was not the kid to be satisfied when I asked, "Why is the sky blue?", to hear, "because God made it that way", I said, "Why?" & "How do you know? Did God tell you?" Which ended in a slap to the face for being a smart ass, but I wasn't being one, it just didn't make sense. Also, the more info I have, the happier I am! I am never overwhelmed with info, I suck it up like a sponge! But, I have to limit myself, or I would neglect little things like sleep, jobs, eating, interpersonal relationships, he he. I figure as long as I haven't been arrested or killed anyone, I don't have any problems!

I bet you could use your talents in your off time, to design a nifty sex contraption? Just a suggestion, ha ha!

I am impressed, I've never met a physics engineer! (Well, I don't think I have.) You know what else makes me nerdy? Being ridiculously impressed with other nerds! , wish they had a high five one without the booze!

Oh goodness. In my...fourth? grade class, there was this fabulous word spelled out diagonally across an entire page in our Language textbook. I was the only one who could pronounce it and spell it: floccinoccinihilipilif ication. (Yes, I remember it to this day!) It means, essentially, to talk and talk without really saying anything. You know, like most politicians.

(Grrr, EF keeps putting a space in my beautiful word! Please ignore.)

The nerdiest? Pretty much most of the things I do in my spare time...

- Watching anime (just finished a series last night)
- Reading manga
- Spending hours online
- Once I get a new video game I spend nearly all of my free time the next week into beating it (I'll do it with my older games as well and just recently spent a large amount of time playing DDR)
- Watch older shows (currently I'm really into Friends and Buffy the Vampire Slayer lol)

I don't know if this counts as being nerdy but I spend a lot of time figuring out my grand plan of opening all these businesses I'd like to open will work out with my best friend. And sometimes I get urges to something random like cook or bake or to thoroughly clean a room.

I consider most of the things I do to be somewhat nerdy or geeky lol.

I think we should unite and make a nerd-run company.

Psychobiology sounds very interesting, would love to learn more about.

I've been fantasizing about these sex contraptions very often, but I need much more knowledge....
During my studies I had some lessons together with biomedical engineers and know a little bit about biofeedback and the possibilities to use for greater (orgasmic) potential. But still lacking knowledge in programming and electronics...

I geek out on camera reviews.

I have had quite a bit of training in using biofeedback for self-relaxation & pain relief. It was part of learning to deal with chronic pain. (I also learned self-hypnosis.) I got good enough at the self-relaxation that I was able to stop grinding my teeth which really impressed the instructors. Hearing about the sex aspect, I am going to have to look into this more & feel slightly miffed not to have been told about this! Then again, why would they tell a 17 yr old? It would have been a little pervy, now that I think about it,

The nerd company would sound like a lot of fun! We already have a thread full of nerds from which to recruit!
