What is your "go to" pain reliever?

Advil liquid gels as well, and I only use them for menstrual cramps.

Ibuprofen 4ever. I get cramps that wake me up at 4 in the morning, and taking preventative ibuprofen usually keeps the pain away.

I don't like taking medication. If it's a headache, I'll drink a lot of water and relax. If it's body pain, I'll try some yoga and stretching, rest, a warm bath, or a massage.

I avoid medication if at all possible. I find regular exercise increases my pain threshold. Regular stretching and semi-regular visits to the chiropractor take care of the rest. In case of emergency, I take aspirin, or if it's dire, I'll take ibuprofen. But not too often because it can damage kidneys and liver and I need those!

Ibuprofen works best for me. After that, Aleve (I forget what it is, acetaminophen I think?), then Goodies powders. I forget what Tylenol is, but it doesn't seem to do much for me, for whatever reason.

Aleve is Naproxen Sodium, closely related to ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) and is considered a "Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory" like aspirin. Tylenol is acetaminophen, and works differently and is not anti-inflammatory, which is why it doesn't work as well for things like cramps or headaches that have a cause of inflammation.

Naproxen is stronger than ibuprofen, but has more side effects like GI disturbance or drowsiness.

I take Naproxen for menstrual cramps, and use prescription meds for migraines and Fibromyalgia pain. Occasionally, I will use Motrin for muscle pain, if it isn't severe enough for prescription medication. I wish I were one fortunate enough to be able to proudly say, "I don't believe in using pharmaceuticals." Many of us really don't have a choice. It's that or intolerable or intractable pain.
