What's your morning affect?

Contributor: hyacinthgirl hyacinthgirl
I hate mornings, and they're made worse by the fact that caffeine goes right through me (I get a 20-minute high, then I'm twice as tired). I don't drink coffee or tea, but it seems like it would be nice to be able to drink something stimulating in the mornings and get to wake up.

I don't get very restful sleep, so I'm always tired. I won't be overly crabby, but it's very hard to get a smile out of me before noon.

I'm pretty positive and happy overall, but trust you me, I have my days

After about an hour from waking up, I would say that Im pretty good to go. Before then, its not a good idea to speak to me lmao!

I am ok when I get up. But when it comes time to get my child off to school my whole mood changes. I am yelling and swearing until his ass is out the door. I have to get up already and you want to lay around like you have all day I don't think so buddy.

Really depends on how well I sleep. I'm anywhere between approachable and happy, to GET AWAY FROM ME, NOW

I'm completely unapproachable in the mornings. My family's learned to wake me up by either shouting or throwing things from a distance, or running away before I start swinging. Coffee doesn't even help because it's not a matter of me being tired, it's just that I'd rather be back in my cozy bed instead of actually having to do something.

I'm definitely not a morning person. I'm not crabby but I am sluggish and foggy for a while. I'd prefer to be left alone until my brain starts working (which can be hours some days) because it is too much work dealing with someone before then.

Everyone that knows me is terrified to wake me up, but learned that if they wake me up with a Tim Horton's coffee in their hand, I'm much more pleasant.

I need my coffee and then I'm able to deal with the rest of the day.

I need to be up a few hours and at least have my shower before I'm ready to deal with the world.

First thing in the morning is widely variable. Some days, I may as well not even be awake. I'll flop out of bed onto the floor, crawl down the stairs, and sit on the couch trying to wake up for about an hour. Don't even look at me, or I get pissy. Then other times, I'm happy and chipper and waking everyone else in the building. Sometimes I'm just a little groggy as I throw on yesterday's clothes to get the mail, and fine by the time I'm back to the apartment. My favorite mornings are boy-is-feeling-frisky mornings ^_^

Recently I've had some pretty crazy insomnia, which adds to the variation a LOT.

I fully intend on singing it to my kids when they're teenagers because I feel that kind of adversity builds character! (and because they feel the need to wake me at 7 am even on Saturdays)

Being a mom has helped me with this. I am nearly always civil. But no one talks to be until after I have had my coffee. My kids have even been known to make me coffee and bring it to me if they need to wake me up for some reason!

My bignuf is a perky fool. I am silent and pensive till cup one of coffee. He knows to LEAVE ME ALONE in the morning (as far as taking. He can screw my brains out if he wishes, fine by me, just DON'T TALK). After a cup of coffee (GOOD coffee) I am FINE. He is perky joe, but keeps it in (to stay alive) and let's it all out at work. THEY want to kill him for being so PERKY and BRIGHT in the morning. Little do they know about WHY he has to keep it all bottled up!!!!

Apparently, if I go to the pool first thing in the morning and get a workout in before anyone has a chance to talk to me, I'm pretty pleasant even without the coffee... Definitely not a 7 days/week activity, but something to note!

I'm sort of odd when I first wake up, I tend to stay in that sort of 'half-asleep phase' for a good fifteen minutes and during that fifteen minutes or so I'm so out of it that I've been known to turn down coffee.
I'm not usually grouchy though unless I've gotten very little sleep and I'm being woken up at 4 AM to walk the dog.

I'm really drowsy, but overly nice in the morning. I want to simultaneously curl up in bed and go back to sleep and also make everyone breakfast.
