To be fair though, it was a pretty good deal and it does look nice. the plan my wife has in her head looks good on paper, but I'm still unsure of how it's going to look after everything is said and done. I fought for hardwood, and ended up only get enough to do our sons room. Oh well, one step at a time I guess.

I used peel and stick when I built my house ten years ago, very budget friendly option. Found it to be quite durable. Over the years I have updated some rooms with hardwood, others with cork. Go with something you will be happy with.

find hardwood on sale and do it yourself. it's not that hard if you have miter saw and rent a staple gun...as long as your floor is relatively level to start with.
