I am a procrastinator. My health insurance is pretty basic, so I am scared of high medical bills. I avoid visiting a doctor for as long as it is possible.

A little proactive, a little passive. There are certain issues I'm proactive about - feminine health, breast exams (strong family history of breast cancer), and my back. A few other issues I can't be proactive about right now.

My current medical insurance sucks, and the last time I applied for health insurance I was actually denied by several companies because of my long history of poor health. I'm waiting until I have a new health insurance company to go back to an allergist. I received allergy shots for four years, until I moved away to college. Over the last 8 years the small immunity I'd built up against my allergens has eroded away. Now, I spend ~2 weeks a month miserable and laid up in bed with allergies. Not just a sniffly nose - really, really wretched, inability to breathe, nose so chapped it bleeds, wracking cough, fever, etc. I can hardly wait to start allergy shots again. I move in a month, and then I'll be able to see an allergist again.

If there is something wrong with me I am always calling and going into the Doctors. I am a baby when it comes to anything that has to do with my health.

I guess I'm a little of each. I try to eat healthy and exercise to prevent health problems since my entire family is obese. My genes are working against me but they don't have to dictate my health.

Other things I just try and live with, like my chronic pain, and hope that I can feel better through natural means such as yoga and massage. If they get bad enough, I go to the doctor.

Then there are other things, like the random stabbing kidney pain I get from time to time, that tend to slip my mind when I think about reasons to go to the doctor...

I'd say I am about 95% proactive and five percent combination of the other two.

I try to avoid getting ill, and I try to prevent aches and pains as well. I exercise and eat right... but sometimes I am just wanting to push through pain which is not good.

I am active with eating and exercise and being aware. However, I also am uninsured.

I'm not proactive in the least. I sometimes don't even deal with things as they happen...more like when they escalate.

Well it's complicated!

I am currently unemployed and uninsured - so I can't honestly claim to be 'proactive' - however I exercise 3-4x per week, eat a healthy diet and take a lot of vitamins. So far that has worked very well - buy who knows what lurks inside waiting greet me?

Right now I'm a procrastinator. My deductible is $2200, so I avoid going to the doctor unless I have to.
