When you tie your shoes

Do you do it the old fashioned way (the right way) or do you use the bunny ear trick?

The 'old fashioned way'? Is it falling out of common use now?

I use the 'squirrel goes around the tree and out from under' or whatever little story describes that way. I also always double knot too.

I never heard of the bunny ear trick either! Had to ask my man. He knew, fortunately. lol I tie my shoes the "old fashioned way", but I'm not sure if I make a granny knot or a reef knot. I'll have to pay attention next time I tie them!

I don't do bunny ears, I make one loop first? I think that's what you mean? and then I loop the other string around the loop and pull it like a loop through the hole?

I don't like the bunny ears way. To me it's just more fussing around. I get them tied and I'm off.

I am a little lost also. I just tie them, and they do not come untied until I want them to.

That's badass! I never knew it made such a difference which way you go around the bunny ear but I have had it happen where one show has a reef knot or one has a granny k not.

Bunny-ears were easier for me to learn than the 'round and in the hole' version. I just could never get it right doing it that way, so I wore velcro sneakers up until I was six, then a Montessori teacher showed me the bunny-ears method ... THEN I was able to wear laced sneakers!

To this day (age 34) I still can't figure out the original method.

The original way, though it took me way longer than anyone else I know to learn.

I'm an old-fashioned kinda girl! I also realize now that I do the granny knot, so I may try the reef knot next time I go to the gym. My gym sneakers are the only lace-up shoes I wear.
