Does anyone think BLACK or CHOCOLATE diamonds are as "pretty" or "valuable" as white diamonds?

I read where it was someone in the jewelry industry, who in a creative moment, took what were considered "scrap" diamonds, and turned them into jewelry. Now they are all the rage.

Do you buy into Black or Chocolate Diamonds being as "pretty" or "valuable" as traditional white diamonds?

Value is set by someone much higher on the food chain than me. I do like white and black diamonds, but not crazy about chocolate ones.

Sounds like that person was good at marketing. Yeah, I think things are valuable just because someone says they are. Get enough people to believe you that something is valuable and then the price goes up.

Diamonds themselves are not a rare stone at all. The monetary "value" of diamonds stems from a monopoly on the international diamond trade. Stones like tanzanite, which can only be found in one location on earth, are much more valuable.

That said: for aesthetic purposes, I like a blend of black and white diamonds. I have a necklace that I adore that is done partly in black diamonds and partly in translucent/white diamonds.

Value and beauty are only the opinion of the person who is buying it/wearing it.

Just like I find those LV bags and such to be such ugly creations, yet my family loves to walk around showing them off talking about how beautiful they are. While I sit there and plaster a fake smile on my face and nod.

But then again, when I wear my amber stones, to me they hold such value and beauty, yet to others they are cheap and they would never buy them because they are not as valuable as other stones. Yet, no one denies their beauty.

Beauty and value are worth only as much as you buy into it. If it is all the rage it is only so because someone thinks it is- or they ran out of other things to try to pimp to sheep readers. Or they paid someone to put them in the media.

When it boils down to it all, I think diamonds are kind of ugly and prefer crystal to diamonds.

I'm not big on diamonds, and I really don't like chocolate diamonds. They look dirty and old to me.

I love them. I have a chocolate diamond surrounded by white diamonds with two rows of small chocolate diamonds up each side, around the base and up it. I'd like to get a canary diamond some day. I just love colors! But I love my beautiful white diamond engagement ring.

I like what I like. =] If what I like is less pricier, all the better for me. ;]
