Just watched Constantine and thought the actor who played Satan did a great portrayal. It got a friend and I to talking about who we think would play a believable Satan. We both came up with one actor each: Christopher Walken and Anthony Hopkins.

To settle the score between my friend and I, who would (in your opinion), play a better Satan in a movie?

This may have to do with the fact that all the movies I've seen Christopher Walken in are comedies but I think Anthony Hopkins would play a better version of the devil.
He is the guy that played Hannibal Lecter after all.

Christopher Walken. Hands down. I love that man. Anthony Hopkins always looks evil. Christopher Walken keeps you guessing, and that to me seems like a more engaging devil.

Anthony Hopkins will always be Hannibal, who may be evil and you're never sure if he has feelings for other people or not. Christopher Walken is pretty evil looking. I think he'd make a good Satan.

Walken is too silly, Anthony Hopkins is a genuinely terrifying man. Similarly, I would vote Ian McShane from Deadwood as a close second.

Sir Anthony Hopkins is good, but I'd love to Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, The Joker) play the devil. Considering his amazing work as The Joker, I think he would be the best.
