Do you or would you use hidden cameras in your home?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
For a few bucks you can now buy a video camera small enough to hide behind a penny! If they had existed when my daughter was a baby, I really wonder if I would have used one to keep an eye on our baby sitters. Would you use a camera like this? What is your feeling on these devices?

I have been thinking about getting security cameras to monitor the front and back doors at my house. It is still pricey, but the price for including this with the alarm package is going down.

I had bought a big camera system for around the house, but my husband could never get it setup properly.

I have a young child, but I don't trust babysitters around him for me to need indoor cameras. I only let my mom watch him and I don't need to spy on her. lol

I live alone so I would want to have an indoor/outdoor system for my own piece of mind.

I don't think so, but sometimes I'd like to see what my dogs do when no one is home.

No--I wouldn't appreciate being video taped without my knowledge, and I would never do that to someone else. If I had trust issues, I'd inform the babysitter or whoever that I have security cameras installed, and then I wouldn't feel like a creep video taping people when they think they are alone.

If I ever had someone babysit my children other than people I personally know, I would consider it.

I don't think I would. If I was it'd be to watch pets when they're home alone.

Yes I would, particularly if I ever had the need to have a house sitter. Specifically to see if there had been any "snooping", I would probably restrict the monitoring to "off limits" areas like my bedroom.

If I thought there was a problem I might use one, but otherwise, I hope I trust whoever is in my house enough not to.

Not unless I had a strong suspicion of a problem. I hope my judgement is good enough to only invite people who wouldn't be a problem.

If I had a feeling someone was stealing from me. Or if I had a sitter and wanted to make sure they were treating my children well. I would use one.

Nothing to watch here, except maybe to see what the pets are up to while we're out. But I have a feeling they just sleep the whole time anyway. LOL

I would maybe install cameras to monitor the front of my house, but never inside.

I don't have the need for hidden cameras, since I'm home most of the time. I think it's a good idea for people who have hired help working in their house though.

My brother in law, sister, niece, and I share a home with our mother. They don't even have babysitters and they still have a few cameras set up around the house, usually in the baby's areas. I would never bother to own or set them up on my own as i truthfully don't see the point, but they set it up and it's discreet and out of the way so I don't really mind their presence.

I would probably use a cam if I still had a baby. I have used a cam for security at a computer shop I used to own.

No. My uncle is a police officer and says that cameras make almost no difference.

I live by myself, so there is no issue of notice to others in my apartment. I am thinking of installing them so I can monitor my place remotely when I am away.
