In my case, 25+ years of meeting her needs - sometimes at the expense of my own - I needed to change the scenery.

In our case I decided I wanted something more. Bought a strap on first, sent him a pic of it and told him we were using it. A few months later I bought a paddle. We have since added a few other dildos for the strap-on and a few other paddles. It is not an all the time thing, maybe once a month when the mood strikes me. For me there was another dynamic - my wife had become so reliant on me being the dominant one, it got to be all take on her part and not much give.
By getting her to be 'in charge' she suddenly had to think of what to do and how to do it. The experience had made her much more creative and engaged.
