Male Birth Control "Pill" (rather shot)

Contributor: Woman China Woman China
I just saw some of the reports coming out, and what got me irked and then downright angry this Friday morning over my delicious and real real real coffee, is that many of the traditional pharmaceutical companies are not wanting this to happen because they won't make a lot of money from it as the guy goes in, gets a shot, returns when he decides he is ready to have the little humans.

I can understand that many of the pharmaceutical companies wouldn't make money from this venture, so would choose not to support it, but isn't it one of those things where biting the bullet is just better in the long term?

That ticks me off.

So I did some more research and discovered this article, where the history of the scientist, the whole science behind the shot is explained and is quite fascinating.

If you already know about it, check out and like the Facebook page. They've got some dates and discussion posted that I found informative.

So the discussion is, what are your thoughts on the male birth control shot? Should governments show much greater interest than there is? If you are a man, would you get this?

Another one of those situations where corporate america is more worried about lining there pockets than doing anything to help the common man. Whether they feel this is a good idea or not they would do everything in there power to oppose it.

It's not that surprising, sadly. Hopefully there'll be government funding for it

I wouldn't get it, personally. First, because I take the normal precautions anyway, so I'm fairly comfortable that it most likely won't happen. And, second, because I'd be worried that something would go wrong - it's me, after all. Something often does - with the shot and I'd be stuck with using my balls as nothing more as playthings.

I'm also worried about the populus at large who may think that, since they're safe from pregnancy worries, they'll not bother with condoms and thus be at risk from STIs.

I'm a girl, and when I imagine what it must be like to be a guy, I get a little frightened.

Condoms aren't THAT effective as birth control. Which means men are pretty dependent upon the women they have sex with. They have to hope that she's on some other, more reliable form of birth control. If she did get pregnant, they don't really get much of a say in whether she keeps it or not.

It's fully possible to take all the precautions you possibly can as a man and be helplessly saddled paying for a child you never wanted.

If I was a guy, I'd be really glad that I had more control in the matter.
