I was going to ask if the word religion would be too obvious, but spirituality would be more thematically appropriate for a site like this.
Do you think there should be a sex and spirituality forum?

I fear there would be quite a bit of unsavory behavior towards those who did not see eye to eye. We have too many subcategories as it is.

No.

I agree with Stormy. In another time and place it'd be an interesting idea but nothing divides people quite like Religion and Politics.

Yeah, it's a cool idea in an ideal world, but nothing turns people faster.
10/16/2012
No.

It could be good but I think it would generate a lot of animosity.

It'd definitely be a hit or miss thing. Could be a great place to discuss different views, could become a pile of condemnations
10/16/2012
Not a good idea!
10/16/2012
I am kind of ambivalent about this?
10/16/2012
I find it a cool idea, it could give space to those who are into such things, and who want to see the views of others on this specific kind of topic.

That's true, the fact that so many people are rude fuckhead idiots on the net and in general doesn't mean that EF members have to behave like that too... ^^

I think that sex is a tricky enough topic to navigate, that adding religeon and politics would just add nitro to an already bubbling mixture.

Nah.

I can't foresee it being very productive. Start a thread on a specific topic, but I don't see a need for a subcategory.

B.But... there's a politics forum. You're on it right now. DDDD:

I think that sometimes spiritual interests and sexual ones can be at odds (but don't have to be) and this would be an interesting place to discuss those issues.

And there hasn't been a single constructive discussion to come out of it. I've either personally shut down or seen numerous threads shut down by other admins when in the political category.

It would be one thing if people could debate things peacefully, but as most people are not truly taught how to debate without relying on fallacies to complete their arguments, it just winds up being a huge clusterfuck of hurt feelings, sore attitudes and it creates animosity and then a slew of other problems occur.
We've actually had users downvote others specifically because of something they've said in the forum that they interpreted as being directed at them on a personal level.
If everyone could remain civil, that would be great...but in the past, we've proven that it's not possible.
For the record, the Sex and Politics subcategory was created to discuss issues about sex that the government is trying to control: condom use in porn, abortions, birth control, GLBT marriage...that kind of thing.
Religion does affect a person's attitude toward sex, but I think the best place for those kinds of things is on SexIs.
10/23/2012
No idea.
10/23/2012
I say yes, for those that are interested in it. Though of course I'm sure everyone would have to agree to play nice (like everywhere else) because Religion is definitely a hot button for some. But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be an area for people to discuss such things if they wanted.
10/23/2012
the less controversial issues we bring to EF the better. isn't EF supposed to be about fun? there are forums where these issues are more appropriate for duscussion.

Well why not? We have a category for everything else? I find it strange that this one is just automatically turned down. OUT! No spirituality here? I personally think that if it's such a widely accepting of all place, why not? I'd be interested in it! Plenty of us would. I can think of plenty of forums categories I am not interested in participating in, but guess what? I simply choose to stick with those I AM interested in and leave the others out. Why is it diff. for this topic?

I like your idea, Kenneth. I suppose you could always just post your ideas/discussions in "social". I would be happy to join in!

I don't think religion or politics belong here.

depends on what direction you are thinking. religion and spirituality would be too much of a hot button topic for the moderators to have to deal with.
however, spiritual sex..tantric sex etc, would be great.

i think it would be a very good topic to have a forum for. but people do not like hearing/reading something that does not align with their belief system, so it probably would be very hazardous.
