Should carrying condoms be used as evidence of prostitution?

That is somewhat ridicoulus. When my husband and I first got to together we both always carried a condom with us. Mine in my purse obviously and his in his wallet. We never knew when we would have that urge to have sex, this way we knew we would be protected.

However if your a female carrying around 10 condoms or so, then that's a different story. I mean I do know some woman who do it, but all those woman have multiple "friends with benefits" (no money involved, I've been friends with some for many years). I think that if that is the case and have had prior charges for prostiuntion, then yes it should be used as evidence.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with being a prostitute, I would like it legalized, it's their choice and they make their money how they want to make it. (I am in favor, however, of them working brothels over the streets, for the safety of the girls!). Everyone has a right to protect themselves and it'd be irresponsible for these girls not to use condoms. If condoms are evidence for prostitution it may deter prostitutes from carrying them around and may not use them (what if the guys doesn't have any!?) so they don't get criminalized. It could also deter non-prostitutes from carrying them around if someone fears being mistaken for a prostitute.

Oh no that person wants to make sure they're having safe sex, clearly they're up to no good! The only thing this is going to accomplish is to deter people from carrying condoms out of fear of being accused of being involved in prostitution. The people perpetuating this ridiculous rule should be disgusted with themselves.

Absolutely not! Everyone should be able to protect themselves if they want. I know several people who carry them because they never know when they or someone else is gonna need one.

That's one of the most stupid things I've ever heared.

It's like carrying a gun is evidence for murder. Anyway I have no problem with prostitution.

Is this about this trans woman who was carrying a condom and got arrested for "prostitution"?! I carry condoms everywhere I go. It's simply the safe thing to do.

Thank you, LuckyLady, for pointing out that the real problem here is the criminalization of prostitution. Because of these laws, many women have no recourse if a crime is committed against them, because if they go to the police, they will be charged with a crime themselves. In fact, criminalizing prostitution results in the societal dehumanization of these women, which makes it more likely that they will be the victims of (real) crimes, and less likely that their cases will be treated seriously by legal authorities.

No, definitely not. I think everyone has a right to carry condoms. And kudos to the prostitutes that insist on them.

It never even occurred to me that this could be evidence of prostitution. When I'm seeing someone I always carry them with me in case he forgets/runs out of them.

That's just silly. Prostitution is prostitution, carrying condoms in no way implies sex for money.

What?? No! Carrying condoms can be for a lot of reasons! Maybe you want to be prepared for a quickie with your significant other & you make have skipped your birth control pill or it may be "that time of the month", etc. It's crazy to think they can be only for prostitution.
