Celebrating marriage equality in NH!

Contributor: Viv Viv
The bill was passed and signed by the governor today--Same-sex marriage is now legal in the state of New Hampshire and will take effect on January 1, 2010!

I know there are other New Hampshire-ites on here--Come get a little giddy with me!

*laughing* I saw it in the news and went a little typing crazy

Yeah that really is perfect timing! Hadn't thought of that yet. My fiancee and I are so thrilled. It's just RI left in NE now.

I go to school in Rhode Island, and I've seen in the papers and in the news that legislators and the governor are not very keen on the idea. I think it's 'cause they're pretty much all catholic. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

Three cheers for NH! We're trying to get a similar bill going here in NJ, and seeing more states joining the ranks of those supporting marriage equality gives us hope.

I'm hoping that all of the great new marriage laws happening up in the north will slowly filter down through the lower New England states...until then, hurrah for New Hampshire!

All New England States with the exception of Rhode Island now recognize and celebrate same sex marriages. It's moving.....

I lived in Rhode Island for awhile. It is not much like the rest of New England.

I have many close, liberal friends who live in RI so here's hoping equality spreads anyway! It really seems to be a generational issue--if it doesn't happen now, it will in our lifetimes I bet.
