Actually looking into actually doing research on this for campaigns. Nothing from this site would be used, I just want to get an idea if it is actually worth looking into.

Do you believe that intimacy is better when you agree politically?

When you disagree (hate sex can be fun right)?

or does it not matter

I'd say it doesn't matter what your views are, it matters how you present them. If you're calm and can talk things out, you can have different views and be close. If you're rabidly "I'm right, anyone else is wrong," that'd take away from the feeling of closeness.

I agree, mostly. My partner and I leave politics at the door. If we want to debate an issue we do it outside of the bedroom and outside of intimate circumstances.

I do think that there needs to be a fundamental agreement (i.e. murdering is wrong, rape is wrong, etc) before being with someone, but as for agreeing on minute details of public policy? Nah.

By the by, my significant other and I belong to two different parties.

I've actually converted my partner to my way of thinking quite a bit. He was a centrist/moderate/inde pendent. I'm a bleeding heart socialist liberal peacenik. Eventually, I was able to show where his 'fiscally conservative' views weren't actually as conservative as he thought. He still considers himself an independent, but now realizes he falls more towards the leftist side of the spectrum...

very cool. I think as long as people are open it can be okay. And most "fiscally conservative" individuals aren't as conservative as they often think that they are

I couldn't be romantically involved with someone who didn't share the same beliefs as me, but I could be sexually involved with minimal problems.

There are a LOT of marriages, and relationships, where both parties differ completely politically. While in some homes, this can lead to fights or arguments, I know others, where the topic is just not discussed, and probably does NOT effect their sex life or much else.

Interesting distinction.

Hey...it can work. I know of a "socialist/libertarian " couple who have been married for 50 years. Ha, ha. IF they can do it, why can't the world?

I would find it difficult to have sex with someone who is against abortion or birth control, because those are sex related issues. I want to feel comfortable in my use of birth control and in the knowledge that I would be able to seek an abortion if something went wrong.

On issues like economic policy and immigration, I don't think it's less of a deal breaker. There it's more important to just be reasonable and calm.
