World AIDS Day

Contributor: Mr Guy Mr Guy
Today, as most of you probably know, is World AIDS Day. Please take a moment to reflect on those who have suffered from this disease, whether directly or indirectly.

You've seen the numbers; you've seen the stats. And most of us by now know at least one person suffering from HIV/AIDS. Or we know someone who knows someone.

There are those of us who preach tolerance. But tolerance isn't enough; tolerance is simply the act of not being intolerant. What we as the world need now is acceptance. Kindness. And strength - through money, through research, and ultimately through knowledge.

Get smart.
Get tested.

Stop AIDS. Keep the promise.

Get those around you smart. Get them tested.

I love this thread and I love to see EF participating in getting the word out. When I logged on and saw the red ribbon it made my day.

I agree with Sleeping Dreamer and Misanthrope this day carries great significance for me. I lost the first love of my life to this horrible disease. I have seen first hand the damage it can cause. I implore everyone to donate any time and effort they can spare to local charities and organizations to help fight this dreadful disease both here and abroad. We all need to stand together and be smart, strong, honest, and compassionate when it comes to battling this epidemic.
