Heya!

I'm not big on porn, but I love reading steamy erotica. No, not like 50 Shades, more like Literotica or Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty. I've seen a good bit of discussions based around porn during my time here at EF, but not many discussing erotica.

What is your favorite genre? Any special kinks that you enjoy reading about? Do you like to read about things you will do, want to do, or never would do?

I haven't ventured into fanfic, yet. But I have dabbled in writing my own erotica.

Yeah, I've already noticed that you love writing. Where can we find your erotica stories? In your blog?

I only have one up at this time. But I am working on more. It is on my blog. Poly Love & Sex. It's under Dominating the Doctor.

I LOVE erotica! A few years back, I would read a book a day. It's addictive. My favorite books are probably:

Up in the Air Trilogy (and spin-offs) R.K. Lilley
Similar in some ways to the Fifty Shades books but well written and super sexy. Also involves tortured souls, innocence, and a billionaire, but it's so much sexier and the characters are much more likable. The author seems to actually understand BDSM compared to E.L. James!

Any book by Kitty Thomas
Her books are dark and the sex isn't that explicit, but the males are super dominant and sexy. My favorite books by her are Guilty Pleasures, Broken Dolls, and The Auction.

Master of the Shadowlands Series by Cherise Sinclair
This author really understands BDSM. Her books are always super hot! This is one of the more realistic views of BDSM in erotica that I have seen.

New York Series by Lainey Reese
First book is a menage book. This is lighter reading but there are some super sexy scenes!

Any book by Laurann Dohner
I love these books! They all have happy endings and the men are all super dominant. They all have true love/mates as the centerpiece to all the relationships which is super cute! I just want to cuddle with all of the characters in these books!

Any book by Aubrey Dark
These books tend to be pretty twisted. The main characters are murderers in her dark romance books. This makes for very engaging stories!

The Enforcers Series by Maya Banks
I love Maya Banks books in general but I find some of her romances are too predictable and boring. I really like the Enforcers Series because it is darker than her other books and super sexy.

Men of August Series and by Lora Leigh
This series centers around three brothers with a traumatic past that has led them to turn to menage as a lifestyle. I likes these books. Super sexy.

Mastered Series by Lorelei James
This is a series that combines martial arts and bondage. The female lead is sassy and strong. It's a really great series!

I often read about things I would never do. Part of what makes erotica so engaging is that it allows you to fantasize about even the most taboo, forbidden ideas you may have. Two series that I didn't put on the list were The Dark Duet by C.J. Roberts and Consequences by Aleatha Romig. I didn't put these books on the list because, especially with the latter series, I don't think I would read the books again. They were well written books that gave me lots to think about but too intense for what I'm looking for when I usually pick up a book. Both books contain questionable content. The Dark Duet includes kidnapped and questionable consent while Consequences involves rape and abuse. While I don't condone any of these things in real life, the way the authors have written about these books and romanticized the situations made me think twice me about how our society views such topics. Again, I think rape, kidnapping, and abuse are all horrible. However, a consensual role play of many of the scenes in these books would be incredibly sexy with the person I love and trust. I would definitely recommend both of these books. Romig's book is more intense and explores the question as to why a person would want to stay in abusive relationship. Roberts' moves quickly into a more typically erotic romance book.

Kind of in the "erotic literature" category is the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series of books... there is a spin off series that caught my eye in a book store and then got hooked on reading all of the books in the series so I could read the spin off series.

I actually enjoy mythology, but would enjoy this series if she had left out all the sex in the books lol.

Oh! I love Sherrilyn Kenyon. I tend to like the were-hunter books better than the dark-hunter or dream-hunter ones. Though I really like Acheron's book! My favorite of her books are the League books. Hands down! It's so amazing what a complex, vivid world she can create within her books.

I've read all of the were, dark, and dream hunter books from her... And agree the Acheron one might be one of my favorites. I'll have to track down the League books.

I'm also into reading Manga (not Japanese exclusive as read Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) but one of my favorite series is one that has a BDSM tilt though the series isn't sexual in nature. I think it's the best thing I've read that paints a healthy BDSM relationship in fiction. The series is Nana to Kaoru.

Oh, that sounds really interesting! I'll definitely have to check out the Manga! If you enjoyed Acheron, you will probably enjoy the League series. The first book has a bit of a slow start though!

I'm going to have to put these on my list. I really need to get back into reading. Even if it isn't erotica. But I think that it wouldn't hurt to get into the habit of reading a short erotic story a day and getting off. Might actually help me not be so bitchy all the time.

I like literotica as well as basic porn, but Tiff really likes the soft core stuff on Cinemax. I guess she likes the story, regardless of the bad acting.

I prefer to read about things that my partner and I would be willing to try. If it's something that would hurt either of us emotionally, I am turned off by it. That being said, as long as it softer BDSM (more loving, no harassing, no serious punishments, etc), or paranormal stuff (no not aliens, but magick type stuff) I'm generally fine with it. I like the later Fifty Shades books, but there are scenes in all three which I do not like - Christian honestly hurting Ana emotionally. I believe it should be fully consensual, even in BDSM there should be no abuse, no emotionally hurting your partner, and no forced activity.
