Cowboys and Aliens, Captain America...etc. Do you do MOVIES on a First Date?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
There are all kinds of really amazing sci-fi/action hero/super hero movies out. There are also some "romantic comedies".

Either way, in a movie you really cannot talk or interact much with a date.

In the olden days (over 30 years ago), we used to go on first dates to movies, since there was often not many other places to go! What about now? Do you think a movie is a good place to go on a "first date", and if so, do you just go to whatever movie you want, or do you pick, for instance a "romance/romantic comedy" over a loud, but amazing action flick???

My first date with my husband was 22 years ago!! We were 18, and we went to a movie! I personally think a movie is a great first date! No pressure to talk and then afterward you automatically have something to talk about; the movie! But, I may be a little biased, I work in that medium and so do several members of my family. I LOVE movies, always have!

I'm not a huge fan of movies on a first date since it doesn't give you that much opportunity to get to know each other. Yes, it gives you an obvious topic to discuss over dinner, but I'd rather spend that time learning about the person than about their take on what we watched.

I think going to the movies on a first date is a great activity. It gives you something to talk about afterwards and you can still learn a lot about the person just by how they talk about the theme, the actors/actresses, how much the snacks cost and other things like that.

That being said, we went to a concert on our first date a long, long time ago.

my first date with my Master was going to see Robin Hood: Prince of Theives. It had romance and some action and was perfect for it. I enjoy going to the movies.

i don't like movie dates much period. every now & then, they're nice to go on, but not on a 1st date. i don't like how you can't talk & get to know each other which i think is essential for a 1st date.

My first date was a movie, it was The Knowing (I think I would have preferred something a little less apocalyptic...) I think I like the idea of having lunch or dinner and then going to a movie best (or going to the movie first, if you're nervous about not having something to talk about.)

i think it's nice but i would rather go to the park or to the beach on a first date. i want to interact with my date and find out more about him and unfortunately, a movie doesn't really allow for that to happen

I think our first date was a movie, but that was almost 20 years ago. I do not know if I would take someone out to the moves for a date now days. The movies are too expensive to watch, and most of them are crap.

I'm not really a movie date person, as it's a very passive activity. However, I do see the point that was brought up - it gives you guys something to talk about afterward. I guess to each their own.
