F*g Hag/D*yke Tyke

Short version: that is SO wrong to me.
You can't "turn" someone straight, as it is not a choice but simply how you are born.

I've heard of this before and have known people who have done this (or tried) but I, myself, would not. I think it's wrong to try and change someone in the first place, so I wouldn't try to change someone's sexual orientation, especially since that seems like a shady reason to date someone!

I am, however, very picky about who I date. I've only ever dated bisexual men and women, as a preference, and there have been times that I didn't KNOW for certain that they were bi, but it just turns out that way, each and every time.

I think that it is silly to try... sexual attraction can't be forced.

I have heard these terms before, sadly I hear them very often. When I was in high school a few years ago these were very common terms to "joke" around with guys on the football team. Even then I found it very wrong to use them. The guys use Fag Hag a lot I never really knew what they meant until reading this. It was used mostly because of the rhymes I think.

I have heard of them. But I have never done this.

What? I've heard of these, but I never heard of those definitions. I've heard that a fag hag is a female that tends to have a lot of gay male friends, and a dyke tyke is a guy that has a lot of lesbian friends.

I have only heard this referring to people who are friends with queer peoples, I haven't heard the negative connotation. I think it's a rude thing to call someone though, either way.
Just because someone happens to have a lot of non-hetero friends, doesn't mean they are a "fruit-fly"

Never heard of this and I don't do this. Sounds ridiculous.

This is a new one to us. We know there are some people who try to "convert" gay's to a straight lifestyle (mostly religious thing), and we have several gay friends who have had this "tried" on them, by family or acquaintances, but this business of dating a guy guy or gal to "switch them"? Why would the gay partner get involved with the straight partner??? In short, why would a Lesbian date a guy or a gay man date a woman? The one's we are friends with are too honest in their relationships to date a person of the opposite sex (who they are not interested in) and thus be deceptive and "lead them on". They would not do that.

I have heard of this but i think its rediculous how people are trying to change others because of their choice in who they love to me personally I live and let live gay men and women r awesome and are normal and wouldnt want to change them no matter what

the first term is only used for women who want a ~gay bff~ and hang out with gay guys, and is a manifestation of homophobia and fetishization. i would assume the latter is the same, but with the genders reversed.
basically, i'm not okay with straight people using these slurs ever.

It surprises me how many people haven't heard these terms before, I figured they were really common. Fruit Fly, Burnt Rice, there's a few terms I've heard for both sides.

I'm gay, but I don't have any friends who are friends with me because of it. I think it's really weird, not super offensive, just weird! It DOES get offensive to me when the fag hags/dyke tykes try to "convert" or convince their gay friend to be straight for them, THAT'S a shitty game to play.

Yeah, like others have said, the terms are about straight people who hang out with homosexuals/LGBT/queer people more often than other straight folk, not usually for dating purposes or trying to convert them. As someone who calls their straight dude friends lesbros in any case...

I'm not too perturbed by people calling themselves that, mostly because I find it kind of quaint and amusing. Maybe I'm being a little sardonic though.

Wow. Did not know about this before. But in my books that's just another form of psychotic. Like the people who think "oh, they just don't know they love me yet!" or whatever.

Huh, I've never heard those terms used in that context. I've only heard it referring to female friends of gay men...

I've never heard the terms and I don't do this. I've liked a lot of guys who I discovered were gay, but obviously I gave up when that happened.
