Is smell a dealbreaker?

Contributor: Deeder Deeder
Depends on what you mean by "smell". If the person just naturally reeks, due to poor hygiene or even a glandular issue, then it's definitely a deal breaker, though nothing personal. If it's something along the lines of "whenever I eat fill-in-the-blank I blow up toilet/room/car/house" it's not a big deal. If it was, I wouldn't be with my husband.

It's a really, really big one. If I can't stand the smell of someone there's no way in hell I can even consider getting physical with them.

Yes. If I can't stand their natural scent, then there's no way I'd want to be close to them anyway.

This is my opinion exactly. It has nothing to do with how often people shower. I'm thinking in terms of natural body scent and I've met a few people I could barely tolerate based on their scent alone unfortunately. Normally these people are very hygienic but their natural scent is just not one I end up liking.

Yes because smell is a part of attraction and if you smell them and it is offensive to your senses then yes it should be a deal breaker. How can you be turned on by someone that you can't stand to get close too

Yes, definitely a deal breaker! My husband works hard all day so he has become pretty good about getting a shower before we go to bed. I am always sure to compliment him when he smells extra good. Certain cologne really do the trick for me...I usually buy him some for gifts.

If he smells because he has a REASON (just exercized, works at a smelly place, etc.) and hasn't showered yet, that's cool, smells happen! If he just SMELLS because he's unhygienic, then hell no, that's not gunna happen. I don't appreciate bad hygiene, it says a lot about a person, and it's not good.

Absolutely. Scent is one of the most fundamental senses and is completely part of my attraction to a person.

If you smell after the gym, obviously you get a free pass (I stink sometimes too) but if you smell on a date NOPE.

I think smell is a dealbreaker, I mean, you're gonna be in close proximity with them for however long you're together, if you don't like the smell well, that's gonna be a miserable time

I've only been in a relationship with one guy that smelled funny to me. I didn't notice until I was laying in his bed. Ugghhh awkard.
