Have you ever told someone you love them when you really didn't and just didn't want to hurt their feelings?

when you really didn't and you just didn't want to hurt their feelings? Like say they have told you that they love you on a couple of occasions now and you're comfortable in a relationship and don't want to mess it up.
If you haven't, would you?

Yes I have. I felt terrible after doing so also. It was a situation where we had been in a relationship for a bit of time and he said it first. I could see that hopeful look in his eyes and I didn't want to crush him so I just blurted it out.

hmmm That is one word I try not to throw around too loosely. I might have when I believed I was, but never when I didn't mean it.

I don't toss those words around loosely like Trysexual said, if I am not feeling the "love" there I won't say it and it usually takes me a good while before saying in. In the relationship I am in now the "love you" or "I love you" didn't come out of either of our mouths for oh about 6-7 months.

Yes, and to this day I still feel bad about it. We were out for dinner with his family for his Dad's birthday, at a pub and had all had a bit to drink. His sister came over to sit beside me and told me, loudly, that her brother loved me....did I love him to? His whole family was sitting there staring at me expectantly, him included....I just didn't know what else to say. I didn't want to do that in front of his family, at all. It was just an awful situation all around and I handled it the wrong way!

Not that I can recall.

Once, a girl in school had a crush on me, but I was pretty lukewarm about her. She kept dropping hints and sending those body language signals until I finally kissed her. Right after, she told me she loved me. I paused, looked deeply into her eyes for a couple of beats and, totally seriously, replied, "I know". Hey, if it's good enough for Han Solo...

Nope, since I knew how bad it was when it happened to me. I will try to let people down softly though

Yes but not in a relationship. I've said it to friends and stuff because they'll say "I love you!" or "Love ya!" (I HATE the Love ya one!!!) and I feel obligated. But I really don't like saying it in that context because love is a strong word.
