Normal to picture Leaving...

Contributor: Mwar Mwar
I love my guy, but sometimes I picture how it would be if I were single. And when I do I don't picture anything sexual like "I can screw x," I think things like "I would only have to worry about myself" and "I won't have to deal with as many messes." And so on.

I don't know. I feel guilty about imagining myself alone. I don't let him know, because it wouldn't do anything positive (I think).

Is it okay to think about the "what if" if you were single?

I think this is like an 'escape clause' for normal relationship issues. I find myself doing this as well, especially after he has acted like less than a gentleman to me. It is a way to check the grass on the other side without damaging your relationship. Yes, you would have more freedom, less messes to clean up and be less stressed.....about your relationship. However, with every actual change there is an additional set of issues to stress about. Being alone, needing comfort, caring and being cared for, solitary evenings without his companionship. And then you get into the dating nightmare.... and the sex nightmare....and the reality of not having your significant other nightmare......
