Both dinner/movie date and romantic night in seem like pretty standard fare for Valentine's day. Try something that is totally out there for the two of you. Is there something you might normally never do together but you could go try (ice skating? bowling? a botanical garden?), or maybe you just need a change of place, get a hotel room for the night somewhere and go out to eat someplace you would never otherwise try. Or if you're looking to do something more on the cheap stay home and cook a meal together and then have a romantic evening, but set up some extravagant rules for the evening, maybe have each of you pick out the others outfit, or say no clothes after X o'clock, or no electronics at all, or every time you say no you have to kiss the other person.

Just some thoughts. Make it personal and go outside of your normal comfort zone. less
