How/When did you decide to tie the knot?

Sometimes you are hanging out in a dark dingy basement watching a good band, and by the end of their set you are engaged.

We were together for about 5 or 6 years. We had been through an open relationship and around the time I was a Senior in college, we decided to get engaged. We bought a house, I graduated, we planned a wedding for the next April, and then found out I was pregnant. So we moved the wedding up to January. Luckily, January didn't used to be a great month for weddings, so we had no trouble finding a place to have the wedding and the reception.

We got an engagement set, with a diamond from my Grandmother.

I don't wear the diamond anymore, as it fell out of the setting and the setting is just too small. (I used to wear a 4 3/4 size ring on my ring finger on my left hand, now I wear a 7, because of arthritis.) We never had the ring resized or had the stone reset. He bought me a new wedding ring a bunch of years ago, and I do wear that every day.

I really liked wearing the engagement ring, and it was fun to pick out a setting etc.

It was not a surprise at all. We knew we were getting married, it was just the evolution of our relationship. When he realized he could afford a nice place for us to live (it was years ago, and the economy was MUCH different) and I was nearly finished with college, we decided it was time.

He actually "officially" proposed in a nasty, "no tell motel" on a "4 Hour Nap" room (you would only have to pay for 4 hours. It was a Fuck Motel.) I remember it was after some wild reverse cowgirl sex. It's kind of the thing you don't forget. He didn't have a ring with him or anything. It was more like, "Damn, we are good together. Wanna be my wife?" I said, "Sure." So many years later..... we're still together and happy.

We had been together for a year and 4 months when proposed to me. I knew it was coming, but it didn't make it any less amazing. He took me to Disney World and proposed at Cinderella's Castle. We got married a month and a half later. We had originally planned to wait another 6 months before we got married, but our plans changed(it wasn't because I was pregnant, but the reason why our plans changed is a long, complicated story).
