My wife rocks!

This past weekend, my wife threw me a surprise birthday party! It was great. She invited a friend of mine that I havent seen in about three years, got me the baseball jersey I have had my eye on AND I got a ticket to the ball game the following day. I have to say that i was pretty impressed with how far she went, especially beings she has fibromyalgia. She wanted to drink with me that night, since her and I don't usually "party" together. So she even stopped taking her medication so that she could. Then she did all the decorations and worked so hard to put everything up.

After being together for three years (and her knowing that I never got a birthday party when I was younger) and knowing how much thought she put into all this....makes me so grateful to know that I married her.

What is the most thoughtful thing your spouse or SO has ever done for you? Or, maybe something you did for them?

Oh gosh, he's done so many wonderful things, I can't even begin to list them all. Most importantly? He saved my life. If I had never have met him, I would probably be on an entirely different path right now. But, I also feel that deep down, I would have met him at some point anyway. (Why yes, I am a die-hard romantic.)

My wife and I are not given to grand gestures. We have been steady supporting companions for 22+ years. However, I like the sounds of what your wife did for you - next time I get the chance, I'm going to something like this for my wife.

Thanks for sharing - and congratulations!

Like Gunsmoke and Mrs. Gunsmoke, my husband and I also don't usually do huge things. There have been a few gifts that were unexpected (he bought me a 12 string guitar one year, when we had decided not to get each other anything) and the very occasional weekend get away.

It's what he does regularly. Of course, it would be "expected" but last Thursday night, after we had made love and he had fallen asleep, I realized I had a severe sudden UTI. It was bloody and painful and came on very quickly. After feeling bad, I woke him up (he told me I was being silly about feeling bad about waking him up) and he basically carried me to the car, took care of me in the ER (once we were there the chills and shakes started) brought me to the all night pharmacy at 2:00 AM, then got me home, got me water and cranberry juice and put me to bed. He rubbed my back so I could sleep.

I appreciate him greatly.

Nice story - I have one like it. Before we were married she had surgery to fix a deviated septum in an effort to improve her breathing. I took care of her every day - including irrigating the packing. She has never forgotten what she thought to be my 'kindness' - but for me it was just the right thing to do for someone you love.

I learned it from my dad. He and my mother fought bitterly - but if she were ever ill he was a saint. Many times he stayed by her side 24-48 hours straight when she was in the hospital. He wouldn't leave her unless someone came to relieve him.

Awwww she is a keeper! It's so nice to hear these types of stories.

My husband has done some amazingly thoughtful things for me but the most recent he did for all of us. He knew our life partner was having some financial difficulties and on Valentine's Day he bought me an amazingly beautiful arrangement of flowers complete with lovely vase. He had it delivered when Arch would be on Skype and had signed the card, "From your three guys, Love you Much." It was so amazingly thoughtful! He also got the baby a stuffed animal and our daughters a smaller arrangement each. All of this and he and I don't even celebrate Valentine's Day! He did it so that Arch wouldn't feel badly about not being able to afford to do anything.

My life partner has always done little things for me...he buys me flowers for my birthday, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and simply because he is happy to have me in his life. He never forgets a birthday and this year is buying each of the girl's a bowling ball bag and shoes. Sigel is buying them the ball and having it drilled for their respective birthdays.

~Sight I love my guys...

That sounds like my parents. I realized that I wanted that sort of loving companion all the time not just when I was sick! It was a commitment that Sigel and I and now Sigel, Arch and I take seriously. I have had many opportunities to show my devotion, i realize I am not a natural nurse and have almost zero patience for illness. Now my guys on the other hand just shine when I am sick.

Aw! How incredible! She sounds purr-fect. This was such a happy post. I enjoyed reading it. That was such a precious thing(s) she done! She certainly sounds fantastic.
I just love birthdays!

My partner always does something special for me and my family does too. He got me a Kindle this year--or maybe that was Christmas? My B-day is in Feb so I get it mixed up. Lol. I think he got the Kindle for Christmas and got me a huge amazon GC as well as 2 pairs of high heels (that HE picked out himself I might add) for my bday. It was sweet because I'd wanted this pair of zebra print heels around Christmas, but they didn't fit my deformed foot. Lol. We went everywhere looking for some that would. So on my B-day he bought me 2 pair, both in 2 diff. sizes so I could choose. One ended up squishing the heck outta my foot and the other actually fit. I wear both though. Then he took me out to eat and shopping. Then we celebrated with family and cake! Here's a pic of my cake

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
