What criteria make something for "campus/roommate living"

Contributor: Gdom Gdom
An absolutely massive number of products are tagged as being for "campus/roommate living" and to be quite honest, I'm not sure why. Now when I first saw the tag label, I figured it had a lot to do with being discrete. It makes sense, after all, that you probably can't use your giant, diesel-powered, "obviously a sex toy" vibe (to exaggerate a bit) when you're living in such close quarters as in a college dorm. That intuition notwithstanding, there are a lot of large, high-noise (4 or 5 bees), and "obviously a sex toy" toys that get labeled as suitable for college/roommate living. Is there any explanation that I'm missing or is the label just applied somewhat arbitrarily?

Each reviewer probably has their own criteria for using that tag. Personally, I use it if something is REALLY quiet, REALLY small, waterproof, or some combination of those features.

Pretty much this. I want something that can not be heard beyond a door and is hopefully waterproof. This is so if you have a roommate, you can sneak off to the shower. Being small also helps since you have to move all the time in school.

I think most may be using that tag and not realizing that most think this tag lables an item that can be used discreetly.

I only use this tag with the most discreet toys. If you can hear it over soft background music or it is on the big side, I don't use that tag.

I almost never use the tag. It has to be something super discreet.

Super quiet, or no sound at all as in a dildo, small and discreet, waterproof is a must for privacy issues. Must meet all these for me to use that tag.

I only use it for quiet toys that preferably couldn't be heard across a room from under covers. Being small and discreet helps too.
